The Bobbi Brown Make Up Experience
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Lucia was the beautiful make up artist for mum's trial and the team on the ground that day all came over to say hello both before and after. It was super relaxing which was great because mum was nervous. There was plenty of space for Lucia to work her magic and mum didn't feel as if she was being watched by other shoppers - even though we were in an open store the area set aside felt super private.
How did the make up artist decide what to use?
Before any make up was applied, Lucia took the time to talk to my mum and understand my mum's vision for her big day. She looked at pictures that my mum had saved, discussed her dress, the wedding theme, and her personal style and colour scheme.
The goal was to enhance her natural beauty, ensuring she felt confident and radiant. At this stage mum wasn't confident at all but she was in very safe hands with Lucia who is an absolute professional at what she does.
Was any prep needed before going for the make up trial?
Yes, a little prep before mum's make up trial made all the difference. Here is what she did:
- Hydrate: She drunk plenty of water the day before (which she tries to do anyway because it's a good habit) and on the day of the visit (although not too close to the appointment so she didn't have to visit the loo a lot!)
- Exfoliate - She gently exfoliated her face a day before to remove dry skin and help her make up sit better.
- Moisturise - She used her usual moisturiser to ensure a smooth base.
- She arrived with a clean face and make up free.
-She is having a spray tan for the wedding so made sure she had a practice of that the day before so that Lucia could match her skin correctly as it will be on the day.
-She took pictures on her phone of make up looks she likes.
-She took pictures to show Lucia of the theme and colour scheme of the wedding.
What were the main products used in the trial?
Weightless Skin Foundation SPF 15: This foundation provided a light, luminous finish, offering coverage that felt both lightweight and nourishing. Mum had taken the foundation she has always used in and Lucia immediately matched it with a Bobbi Brown shade but with way less orange in it. Mum has been using the Bobbi Brown foundation ever since and it is such a perfect match.
Intensive Serum Concealer: Lucia told mum that this is perfect for brightening the under-eye area, and this concealer blended seamlessly, giving mum a refreshed look.
Vitamin Enriched Face Base: It's safe to say, mum is addicted to this. Serving as both a moisturiser and primer, it created a smooth canvas for makeup application, leaving the skin feeling hydrated enough for her make up to glide on while also making sure it stayed in place.
Peachy Nudes Eye Shadow Palette: Lucia selected shades that complemented my mum's eye colour, enhancing them subtly and elegantly.
Smokey Eye Mascara: Mum already uses this and Lucia agreed it suits mum's eyes perfectly. She loves a mascara that lengthens and shows and this one is perfect.
Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil: Lucia explained to mum that she doesn't just line the lips but also fills the lips with the pencil because it keeps the lipstick in place which was spot on because it lasted all afternoon.
Lipsticks: Mum doesn't usually wear lipstick and wanted something subtle. A soft, flattering shade 309 pale mauve, was chosen to complete the look, adding a touch of colour that tied everything together beautifully.Bronzing Powder: Mum loves a bronzer and this Golden Light is perfect and so smooth.
Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks Lucia applied a creamy blush in addition to the bronzer and it really set mum's cheeks aglow. This is Fresh Melon , a beautiful shade.

Final Thoughts
Bobbi Brown's make up trial was more than just a makeup session; it was a bonding experience and a step closer to the big day. Also, mum has learnt so much about applying make up and was also looking to update her look which was made easy in the hands of Lucia who helped her with colour choices she can use all of the time. Seeing my mum's face light up as she admired her reflection was so cute and memorable. Bobbi Brown's approach to highlighting natural beauty made the experience memorable, and I can't wait to see her walk down the aisle looking and feeling her best.
