I thought it was about time that I did a post about some of my high street favourites, if I go into Boots there's one brand that I always go back to for my hair products and that's John Frieda. Okay, so I do treat myself and use quite a lot of other hair products too, but my basic and staple items which are a necessity are definitely those by Mr Frieda. I've never heard a bad word about his items. My fave product by him has to be his Sheer Blonde shampoo. It is a purple liquid and I use it on my hair every time I wash it, the purple eliminates brassy tones and acts as a toner on my hair, every time I use it my hair looks more bright and white. Which Is what I love so I'd recommend that for blondes! But because it does tone, i'd recommend using these full repair products as well as then you're repairing the bleach on your hair.
I never ever ever use any heat on my hair without lathering it with heat defence spray. John Frieda's is the best i've come across because not only does it defend your hair from heat damage, it also helps you to style as it is a 'styling spray', it gets your hair ready for straightening or curling or an updo but also, it repairs your hair and revives it. If you spray it onto your hair when it is wet before you blow dry it, it takes the dryness out of your hair that you usually get from blow-drying. It also gives you a nice shine.
The sheer mist acts as a leave in treatment, once again, I would never dry my hair without spraying a leave in conditioner on it. This Sheer Mist is essential for damaged hair and it smells so yummy. It's like spritizing a healthy perfume onto your hair. Also, if you spray it onto your hair when it is wet, the heat works with it and makes it absorb better into your hair, which means that it works quicker. This way, you don't feel too bad about heat styling your hair. They say that this is a ' lightweight micro-oil rich in omega-3' which 'absorbs into worn-torn strands instead of coating the surface', I don't know much about the science of this, but it is true, it doesn't make your hair greasy, it lightly covers it in good nutrients. This also protects the hair from high heat and says it gives you 'perfect ends' I used this last night and can honestly say that it is responsible for my 'good hair day'. My hair wasn't frizzy, but it was manageable and shiny and looks and feels so much more healthier after one spray of this miracle mist.
The size of these products is great as well, they aren't too big but they're not too small. They'd fit nicely in a travel bag so that you can always ensure perfect hair care even on the go. I'd recommend spraying the sheer mist on your hair if you just feel like your hair needs refreshing and treating. Although they are perfect for travel, they last forever. I rarely replace these products, because of the spray mechanism they seem to just last me for months which makes them more than worth the money. I also love the packaging, I think it's really nice to see bold, red bottles - it's quite unusual but John Frieda do tend to use bright colours in their advertising and this really draws me to a product. The boxes are nice and shiny and it makes them look like premium products, they do act like premium products at high street prices which makes them even better.
Regular readers will know that I love my repairing products and love nothing more than sleeping in a deep conditioner. If you get the chance, do it. It works wonders for your hair. A treatment that I often use, from the same range is the Full Repair deep conditioner. It revives over-styled hair, which most of us girls are probably guilty of having. It's surprising how much you get in the tub and it's a really wet and silky texture so a little bit does go a really long way. You can tell from the texture that it will work wonders with your hair, it just feels so silky. Even if you just leave it on for 3 minutes each time you use it, like the sheer mist, you see results straight away. I however, love to sleep in it for a super deep treatment and when you wash it off in the morning, your hair feels like perfection. If you want to treat your hair but you don't want it to cost the earth, do try these essential products. It makes washing your hair feel like less of a chore when you've got new products to try. They range from around £5.00 each but can usually be found on a 2 for 1 or a 3 for 2 offer at Boots and Superdrug. I find buying it at the local supermarket is the best as they're always so much cheaper.
I hope this helps you all! Do you use John Frieda? What's your high street fave?

Me too! It is literally amazing, haha it saved my hair too xxxx
DeleteI bought the shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner and the style creator a couple of months ago and I wasn't hugely impressed, they weren't particularly bad but just didn't seem to do much for my hair.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I generally love John Frieda too, but hate how little product there is in the styling sprays and deep conditioner pots! xx
Hmm.. I suppose different things work differently depending on the hair type? everyone is different and its a shame you didnt find the same results, after using the conditioner for 2 weeks, my hair does feel so much better than it did before!
DeleteLet me know if you find something good!
I think it's quite expensive so I love to take advantage of 241 offers etc! xxxx
When I was a proper blondie I also used that sheer blonde shampoo because a hairdresser dyed my hair ginger (still painful to discuss!) but the sheer blonde shampoo along with the schwarzkopf is the only one what actually prevents the ginner tones! May have to try some of these products you've mentioned here.
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know I've got a 20% off Motel Rocks discount code if you want to use it :)

Oh god ,blonde to ginger is never good! Yeh, im doing a full post about the sheer blonde range next week actually as I swear by it! It's incredible, if you mix it with this range you'll find it doesnt damage your hair too much as I dont personally think sheer blonde is good to use all the time ,because it acts as a toner it is technically like dying your hair. That's great thanks for that lovely xx
