Tips to get white hair, best tips for blonde hair

Hey all! I am FINALLY home, after the most amazing month in London. I say finally because it's great to not be living out of a suitcase anymore. It's sad to be home though but at least I can schedule lots of posts and really focus on my blog again, it's been so difficult fitting everything in when I've been busy every single day. Now, a lot of people ask me how I make my hair the colour that it is, and i've finally realised how I do that (it's all about the shampoo!). Basically, for years I tried every 'silver shampoo' on the market, now if you're wondering what the heck silver shampoo is, it isn't actually silver, it's a purple liquid. I found out about it because when I was younger I worked in a hair dressers on a Saturday and was told that on the colour scale, purple is opposite yellow and therefore, if you put purple on top of yellow, it corrodes the brassy/orange/yellow tones (don't quote me!) hence why silver shampoo is famous for making blondes, erm blonder.

Every time I get my hair done at the hair dressers it does look super white, which is what I want, but then as soon as I wash it a few times, it tends to look dull and brassy. My hair dresser uses a toner on my hair when she washes my colour off, this toner gives it a cool white feel. I think you can buy these toners, Wella do them and they do work, but you have to be careful because if you leave it on for too long, your hair can turn a biscuitty colour or it can actually go fully silver or grey, so it's best to leave it to the hair dresser. Now i've probably used every purple shampoo on the market, so I think it's about time I tell the world what I do reccommend! I used to use Lee Staffords because it ws a purple liquid, but it did turn my hair silver, I really didn't want silver hair, it once went so silver that it was blue and then once it went grey, which wasn't the look I was going for - but I do have some friends who love this particular shampoo, so I think it just depends on your hair type and colour. The products which I reccommend to peopel time and time again are the Sheer blonde range from John Frieda. I now know that this works, because when I don't use it, my hair goes brassy, but the instsnt I use it, my hair is noticably whiter.

So, firstly I am going to show you my hair colour (when i've used the shampoo and when it is at my favourite colour, WHITE!) Please excuse the cringey photos, they were a while ago, when I was really into the white hair look and using my John Frieda products. Recently, in an attempt to make my hair grow, I decided to stop using them, and only use the most gentle shampoo's ever, and I really did notice a difference in my hair colour. It's taken me ages to get it back to how I want it, as the shampoo does say it's after every 3rd use that it will make your hair brighter. Fianlly though, i'm nearly back to the whiteness that I like and want.I don't think that 'white blonde' hair is always a good look, but when i'm going on a night out, I do prefer it to be this bright, or when it's summer, and thats why this shampoo is so good, you can stop using it but just use it on a night out for that refreshing feel.

So here is what I rave about to anyone who asks me what products I use. I am living proof that these work, after not using them for a while, then going back onto them and seeing a brilliant difference. The sheer blonde range or 'colour renew' which I prefer, as it really does renew and brighten your colour. The aim of the product is to 'neutralise brassiness' and they are designed for colour treated blondes. I was told by my hair dresser that the purple will pick up better on bleach, my friend has highlights and used this shampoo, you could see that it really brightened the bleach highlights but not so much her honey highlights. The formula has an 'optical brightener and lavender' which I suppose is what makes it purple, it is amonia and peroxide-free which is what I like to hear, they do say for best results to use it up to three times a week, If you really want to go white, do use it a lot, but If you want your hair to be healthy, use it alongside a strenthening conditioner too. I find that the longer I leave this on my hair, the whiter it goes, I have left it on for 5 minutes before and then my hair really does go bright white, which is what I want.

As you can see, the colour is quite scary, but once you use it, you'll look for this colour in every shampoo. It's hard to tell by the photograph but it is really a really silky texture, which is what you want, as it means it conditions your hair as well. You don't need much AT ALL to put on your hair, as it does lather up really well when your hair is wet, however I always wash my hair with it twice, once to clean the dirt from  my hair and once for the effect of the shampoo to take place, and I do make sure I leave it on a while. These shampoos retail at around £5.00 but you can usually find them on 241 at Boots or Superdrug, and I always find that supermarkets sell them really cheap, which is good when you're a skint student in need of purple shampoo like me! I;ve also heard that schwarzkopf do a really good silver shampoo, I think it will be expensive though but everyone that uses it has amazingly bright white hair... so I will be in touch when i've had the chance to try that. So finally, if you're wanting LONG hair, you can read my blog post which includes simple and easy ways to grow your hair long, quickly!

  4. have you tried Fudge Whiter Shade Of Pale? It's a toner with no ammonia in it so it doesn't affect your hair, you just pop it on for 5 minutes in between shampoo and conditioner and it takes the brassiness out your hair. I love it! xx

  7. I had the exact same effect from the John Frieda shampoo so I'm quite sure you'll get the same effect from Schwarzkopf too! I had a hair disaster and a hairdresser dyed it ginger and this shampoo actually made it look so much better! I managed to get it from Boyes for like £3 if its this one you mean..

  9. I've been obsessed with silver shampoos and the john frieda go blonder spray recently, as I've been dyeing my hair brown for the past 4 or 5 years but I stopped a few months ago to go back to my natural blonde. It's taking a long time for all the brown to grow out/fade but these products are helping loads. The brown dye's definitely made me hair more orange so these have been great in reducing the brassiness!xx

  16. blondes have more fun, but brunettes remember it the next day ;)
I loved being blonde but got a bit annoyed with the male attention I'd get..totally unwanted. Id like to add since going back to brunette I haven't had one wolf whistle (its half heart breaking). Apparently ''hot shots'' are really good for getting rid of brassy colours, I used to use a teeny bit of toner but Id use natural ones ( I think it was by directions) xoxoxo

    1. hahahaha! i dont believe that fully as Im usually the one who helps my brunette friends when they get paraletic;) I think it does depend on the person though... hm yeah it is annoying sometimes! Ive used hotshots before but because they werent a purple liquid i figured they wouldnt work, they made it go a bit brassy, maybe I should try again xxxxxxxx

  18. I agree 100% with this shampoo, i do tend to flick between this one and lee stafford as the lee stafford one tends to turn my hair pink if i use it too much x
