Dior Forever Flawless Perfection Foundation Review VS Chanel Perfection Lumiere Review

Hey lovelies, so today I'm doing a review of two new foundations. I've worn MAC cosmetics for as long I can remember and I kind of got to the stage where it just begun to feel ugly on my face and it was easily too dark for me. I've used all of their foundations and I've just completely gone off them all so I decided i'd try some super-high end foundations just to see if there is a difference. I do think that foundation is really important when it comes to make up application, after all, it is the base and it's what everyone sees. I've always thought that having a foundation with a high SPF is really important because I was once told that every day environmental factors such as petrol, fumes in the air and the suns harmful UV rays, are really bad for the skin. I've also read so many times about how bad the sun is for your skin in winter, because it's lower. That's why it's apparently so important to have an added SPF in your foundation. I think most foundations have SPF (sun protection) in them now which is good.

I decided to go for Dior and Chanel, and once these run out i'll be trying an Armani one. However, after i've tried the high end foundations, i'm going to try out some high street priced foundations and see how well they work in comparison. So, packaging and presentation is really important to me, and to be honest, you can't really go wrong when it comes to high end make up as everything just looks so yummy. However, i've got to say, I do prefer Chanel out of these two just because I prefer the simplicity of the black that they use. I don't think you can go wrong when a colour scheme is black and white. Dior go for more of a grand design using silvers and blues, i've always found Dior's packaging quite tacky but it's not that bad, I think it's just the blue and silver that seem quite cold.

First is my review of Dior Skin 'Forever' Flawless perfection fusion wear make up. I've never had any Dior make up before, I've only used their lipglosses but one day I saw that Debenhams had a sale on with 30% off all beauty, even Dior so I thought i'd treat myself. The foundation came up to £31.00 which I think isn't too bad to say it's a brand like Dior. I pay £21 for my Mac foundation I think. So when you compare it to that, it is quite expensive. It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts for the price because my Mac foundation does run out quite quickly.  It has an SPF of 25 which is better than Chanel's SPF 10. I asked the lady at the counter to give me a concealer with a buildable coverage, one which can be heavy if needed and one that's a matte finish. If you wear this foundation without powder, it is really quite shiny though, but I think you get that with all liquid foundations. This foundation is great coverage, much better than Chanel. But, what I find with both of these foundations is that you only need two little squirts to cover your whole face. This liquid feels quite thick and after wearing it for a few weeks I do feel like it's probably a little too heavy for an every day wear look, it's more of a night out foundation. It's heavier than my Mac foundation (studio fix) but lighter than Estee Lauders double wear, which is the most disgusting heavy foundation ever. The other problem with this foundation, as much as I love how flawless it looks, is the colour, unfortunately I just think it's slightly too dark for me some days. I do love the yellow under tone that it has to it though, it makes it warmer.

Below you can see me wearing it, with powder over the top. I do really love this foundation, but only when i've got fake tan on, otherwise I feel that it's slightly too dark. In terms of stayability, I do find that it stays on really well, the thickness is great and you do look very 'make-upped' even if you only have two squirts on. I love the matte effect of it. You can read my full review of it here which I did a while ago when I bought it. I will 100% purchase this again, just in a lighter colour next
time.

I next decided to try Chanel's foundation. I've never really heard much about Chanel make up but I know that people swear by Dior's foundations, so I decided to try a rival brand which is similarly high end. When I got to the counter I asked for the same thing as I did at Dior, a foundation with  build-able coverage, but in a lighter colour this time, and one that has a matte finish. In terms of packaging, I think this product is faultless, it just looks incredible in your make up bag and if I could have my entire make up bag full of Chanel products, I would. When I interviewed the top make up artist, Rachel Wood and Clothes Show Live 2012 she told me that Chanel is the best make up that money can buy, and if you can, go for Chanel every time. I will 100% try some more of their products when i've got the money.

This product is only SPF 10 in comparison to Dior's SPF 25. One thing which I noticed when using this product was how nice and fruity it smells, it doesn't have that ugly foundation smell that most high end foundations have. This foundation is a lot lighter than Dior's, it feels so much lighter on the face and does give more of a glow. I think this is a foundation which i'd only wear on really good skin days because it doesn't cover up blemishes as well as Dior's. The consistency seems a lot lighter. However, again, to have a full face of make up and look 'make-upped' you only need to apply two or three drops of it on your face, which I think is really impressive. It feels so smooth and matte when it's on your face. This does have a bit more of a sheen to it and I don't think it's as long wearing as Diors, but I think it looks a lot fresher and it gives you a nice glow.

  15. Aww, I wish I could afford high end right now. Not because I think it makes a huge difference, but it'd look good in my makeup bag.

  25. I really have to try the chanel foundation. Always feel it is a bit pricey but like you said, it is worth it if you have the 'perfect face' after. I use MAC studio sclupt and find that to be a perfect consistency and still have a glowy effect on the skin. A foundation has to be good to replace it.
    Great post

  26. I am using the Dior forever foundation too and I find it a little heavy for the summer as well :( I was checking out Chanel and it does seem a lot better! I'll definitely go down to my Chanel counter to have my color matched.

I also have the Shu Uemura face architect foundation, but I find the it doesn't last very long especially for oilier skins under the hot weather..
