Outfit and Make up Of The Night - Contouring and Eye Shadow For Beginners

Hello lovelies, i'm really sorry that it's been a few days since I last blogged. I've been crazy busy packing for Paris (i'm going tomorrow eee!), doing all of my work for University and i'm just generally stupidly busy. BUT, the good news is, today I broke up from Uni for 4 weeks, so you've got me, for four whole weeks. Lucky you. So, if you follow me on instagram (emshelx) or on twitter, you'll have seen me posting lots of posey photos of myself this week, I promised that i'd write about how I did my make up on those photos, because I am very proud that I actually managed to apply eye shadow correctly AND managed to contour alla Kim Kardashian style. Enjoy...

So, as most of you know, I recently got Benefit's Fake Up concealers and Benefit's Neutral Palette and lucky for you, I decided to give them a proper go on Wednesday night as I was going out with my friends. I was literally so happy with the results that I decided I have to rave on about these products to you. The products that I used are on the photo above;

So i'm guessing you're wanting to see the finishing look? (excuse my pouts, i needed to show the contouring haha)

For the eyes I followed the easy tips inside the Benefit World Famous Neutrals palette. Which was to basically put 'no pressure!' a dark cream shadow on the base of my eyes, and to then blend 'quick look busy!' into the crease. I'm really surprised at how easy this is, especially for an amateur eye shadower like me. I was also inspired by Laurenbeautyy on YouTube (my idol!) so I bought Collection 2000 gold glitter eyeliner and simply lined above my lashes. I coloured in my eye brows with a set from VIVO which I actually bought from Tesco for £5.00. Please excuse how bad my eye brows look, as a beauty blogger I really shouldn't have let them get so big especially with all the different methods of hair removal around today. I usually get HD brows done and I really need to get them redone as soon as possible. My favourite bit about this look is the gold glitter liner, I love the twinkle that it adds to any look. This night I wore gold sparkly shorts, and actually, without realising, this glitter eye liner went together with my shorts really well. My eye liner is from Smashbox and is just black.

Now, in terms of the complexion, I started by using Benefit's Porefessional as my primer. This is a great primer as it feels quite thick and matte, you can really tell that it's smoothing out the surface for make up application. I then applied Benefit's Fake Up concealer in colour light in a straight line on my cheek bones. This concealer is the perfect one for contouring, because it glides on so smoothly with it being a hydrating concealer, also, Fake Up is in a handy little lipstick container, so it's so easy to use. I was told by the lovely ladies at Benefit that the key to contouring is to then apply foundation over the top in the same direction as the contouring lines. It's quite difficult to do and you do have to be gentle when applying foundation over the top, i'm used to just rubbing my foundation in circles on my face so it's really weird brushing the foundation up vertically but if you use a foundation brush it does make it quite easy. I used my Real Techniques powder brush to put my Mac mineralize powder all over my face and I then went over the contour lines across my cheek bones with my Dior blusher using my Mac contouring brush. I'm wearing Myth lipstick by Mac.

Last but not least, the outfit. I wore gold sequin shorts from Forever 21 which only cost me around £12.00 from what I can remember (I remember thinking, what a bargain). They're kind of like sparkly gym shorts, I love them. I teamed it with a leotard from ASOS which simply crosses across the front. I then just wore plain black wedges with the outfit. My hair was curled using Lee Stafford's long tong, easily the best curling wand i've ever come across. It gives hair the most volumed, bouncy and perfect curls within seconds. They're so easy to use. My hair is BeautyWorks extensions, my favourite brand ever. They're still in the most amazing condition, if you want to read about them you can read here.

I hope you like my outfit of the night and make up of the night!

Lots of love, Em x
