I thought I'd do a 'whats in my make up bag' July edition post because I do change the contents of my make up bag on a monthly basis. To be honest, I do alter what's in my make up bag depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing. I'm forever rushing around so this is a weekly thing for me. I think I'm going to start doing these posts more regularly so I can show you any patterns in my make up bag, for example, does one thing always stay there? Hopefully you will approve of some of the items that have made it into my make up bag this month...
This months bag was kindly sent to me by SewLomax, a brand who create gorgeous embroided make up bags. I was sent the 'make up box', which has come in handy this month as I have been travelling a lot, with it being box shaped, I've been able to cram all of my stuff in but keep it quite neat.
So onto the contents...
Clarins
Lip Perfector. This made its way straight into my make up bag. I was kindly
sent this and I've got to say, it's the best lip product that I've used in a
long time so thank you Clarins for introducing me to this. I'm loving the
natural glossy pink look at the moment, particularly this month as the weather
has been up to 30 degrees in England. It makes my lips look so plump, which is
what I want as I feel that I have quite small lips so this just gives them that
bee stung look. The colour is really subtle and this doesn't dry my lips at
all, it makes them soft, shiny and smooth (and huge). As it says in the name of
the product, it perfects them. It just gives a really nice natural finish to
any make up look.
Apivita
Lip Care. I am all for lip balms and I change them around every month in my
make up bag, I always have one in my bag, one in my make up bag and probably another
in my pocket. Just incase. I'm a bit of an addict. This one from Aptivia has
been perfect in the sun as it has an SPF of 15. I like that it's made with
natural ingredients as I want to make my lips nice and healthy. We put sun
cream on our bodies, but so often forget about our lips so with the weather
been so hot, I’ve been trying to rehydrate my lips. This only costs £3.80,
which makes it a complete bargain. I wish I included it in my favorite budget
beauty product list.
Rouge
Bunny Rouge Luminous Skin Wand. This is a replacement of my YSL Touche Eclat. I
am a huge fan of any under eye highlighter/concealer and actually prefer this
one to the Touche Eclat. It is a little bit thicker and it actually covers
under eye bags, unlike the Touche Eclat, which I find doesn’t work very well
for me. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative I highly recommend
L’Oreal’s Lumi Magique.
Daniel
Sadler Water Colour Blush. With all this hot weather I’ve been wearing natural
make up and this is the perfect natural blush. I do find it comes out quite
fast and wet so you have to be quite gentle with it but it does give a gorgeous
natural flush of colour, it really brightens the face.
Benefit Stay Flawless Primer. I was very lucky
enough to try this recently and it hasn’t made its way out of my make up bag. I
love the feel of it; this primer is like a waxy foundation stick. It covers your
skin with a light waxy layer which actually makes your skin glow before you’ve
even applied foundation. It’s so easy to apply with it being a waxy texture and
a stick formula means that you literally just paint your face with it. The
stick is quite thick so you hardly need to apply any, it’s better than a
standard cream primer as you wont run out of this quickly. My make up does stay
on longer with this (and its small enough to pop into my travel bag which is an
added bonus).
Vichy
Idealia BB Cream. The hot weather has meant that my make up bag feels
incomplete without my trusty BB cream inside it. Vichy’s idealia BB cream is
one of the best I have tried. I made a list of the best BB creams if you missed that. I
also sometimes pop my Clarins BB cream inside, depending on what mood I’m in.
They’re both great products.
YoungBlood
Hi-Definition Powder. I have wanted to buy a HD powder since hearing about Kim
Kardashian apparently using the Make Up Forever one. Unfortunately, at around
50 euros, it was well out of my budget when I know that there are cheaper
alternatives. I was kindly sent this from Skin Rejuve Direct and have actually never used
YoungBlood before. I’m very impressed and therefore, this has been in my make
up bag all month. The only thing that I miss about normal powder is the fact
that when using a translucent powder, you don’t get any colour on your face. I
like to make my complexion darker by using a warm powder. This is a nice
product and does make your skin look flawless, further more, it does make your
make up last longer and even though the powder is white, when blended, it
doesn’t actually make your skin white but for me, I still add bronzer over the
top just to give me the warmth that my MAC Mineralize powder gives me. YoungBlood do this HD powder in 'warmth' instead so I may try that next time. At the monent, I wont
be substituting my normal powder for this.
Benefit
Fake Up Concealer. I was given these at a Benefit Bloggers event a while ago
and have been hooked ever since. My skin is always quite dry and concealers do
tend to dry it out, but not these ones, they’re perfectly hydrating and still
manage to give good coverage, they’re not too thick so you can use them under
the eyes as well or you can use them to contour. This is so much more than just
a concealer, so pop one in your bag if you’re going travelling, it’s a
versatile product. Make sure you don’t let it get too warm though, one of mine
snapped once.
Leighton
Denny Nail Varnish. Ever since receiving a Leighton Denny nail varnish in my
GlossyBox months ago, I have been hooked. I love their new Summer colour range
and I have been wearing this mint green one throughout July. I saw an instagram
photo of Michelle Keegan sporting a gorgeous mint nail colour and just had to
replicate her look. I love how thick Leighton Denny polishes are. I do tend to
chip my nail varnish very easily but I think that’s because I never apply a clear
coat over the top. This colour has had so many compliments.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Highlighting Liquid. Ever since
writing about what make up Rosie Huntington Whiteley wears and how to recreate
her look, I’ve fallen in love with this product. I’m absolutely obsessed with a
natural glow at the moment and nice highlighted cheeks. Rouge Bunny Rouge is
the ultimate brand for highlighting products, I’m pretty obsessed with the
brand at the moment. I paint this all over my face every morning with a
foundation brush to give me a nice glow.
Clarins Everlasting foundation. This has been in my
make up bag this month ready to use, but I haven’t used it much yet due to the
fabulous weather. I hate to wear heavy make up, or any make up at all in heat
so this one will be fully reviewed for you as soon as Britain starts to get
chilly again (which wont be too long).
MAC lipstick in crème cup. I didn’t include this in
the photo as I only started using it properly last week, but it is phenomenal.
I love the colour. I’ve been looking for something slightly different in colour
to MAC’s myth for some time now and this is the one for me. It has very subtle
pink tones in whilst still being neutral and shiny. The perfect natural lip,
goodbye Myth.
Jordanna Lash Extreme Mascara. This is always in my
make up bag, month after month. I am obsessed with it. Not to mention how cheap
it is. I reviewed this in my budget beauty post if you’d like to find out more
about this magical mascara.
Have you used any of these products? Would you like
to use any of these products? Are there any items which you have in your make
up bag month after month?
Lots of love, Em x
P.S, I've been shortlisted for the Cosmopolitan 'best new beauty blog' award and I am speechless, I'd love to have your vote. You can vote for me here. Thank you so much.
