Hello everyone:) So brushes are the topic today as I have finally got home from Greece! I'm back to normal posting now! I fell into the consumer trap when I was younger and longed for almost every MAC brush available. Every Christmas, I was lucky enough to receive a MAC brush or two, and I guarded them with my life. When I really got into make up, I decided to experiment with brushes. I'd love to try some Chanel ones because they will look gorgeous in my make up bag, but until I can bring myself to spend that much money on brushes again, I will stick with these. Real Techniques seem to have taken the world by storm, designed by Samantha Chapman from YouTube's Pixiwoo. I was recommended these by a friend a while ago and at £11.00ish, they were worth a try. I've got to say, once you use these brushes, you will never go back...
I have had these for a long long time now, hence why the logo etc has rubbed off. But, I always think that the brush itself gets better with age. I used to have the large Body Shop powder brush and I felt that it only got really good after using it for about a year, I find that you kind of need to wear your make up brushes in. I was drawn to these when I saw them in Boots (and the thought of getting Boots points for buying them). I was planing on buying the Real Techniques starter brush set, I think this is around £21.00. But instead I knew that I wouldn't use the brushes in that kit, so I bought two individually; the powder brush and the expert face brush.
I use the expert face brush as a foundation brush, it is immense when it comes to blending and actually, better than my MAC foundation brush, which now seems to leave a lot of hairs on my face. This cost me around £9.00 from Boots which is more than affordable, particularly in comparison to high-end brushes which can cost around £35.00 for one. I have never had any shedding from these brushes and I've had them for well over a year, so they really do last. The expert face brush is unreal when it comes to blending foundation, it gets rid of any lines on the sides of the face too.
The Real Techniques powder brush is just as good, again, it's never shedded on my face and it applies my powder flawlessly. I use the powder brush as a blusher brush too, I find that the only way to get a nice subtle colour on my cheeks is to blend it with this powder brush. I will never go back to using any other brushes after using these (unless someone wants to tell me of a brand that can rival these) and can't wait to extend my collection, these brushes blend and apply everything so effortlessly.
If you haven't tried Real Techniques brushes yet I urge you to do so, I used to swear by high-end make up brushes, but these really are just as good. I personally choose to clean my Real Techniques brushes using anti-bacterial hand gel to kill off any germs.
Have you used Real Techniques? What make up brushes do you use? Would you like to try some Real Techniques brushes? Can you recommend any other make up brushes?
Lots of love, Em x
