Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Review VS Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In Place High Coverage Cover Concealer Review

I've gone from having no good concealers to having two very impressive ones in my life. I bought Seventeen's Phwoarr Paint from Boots after reading numerous reviews about it and I was really excited to review it for you all. When it comes to Estee Lauder, I was lucky enough to receive their newest concealer to try. We all know that they're the top of the game when it comes to beauty, so I had very high expectations. The birth of their Double Wear Stay-In Place High Coverage Concealer was much celebrated at EmTalks HQ (my bedroom). So how did this high street concealer compare to the long awaited designer special? Read on to find out...

Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay-In Place High Coverage Cover concealer

The Packaging: I've always been a huge fan of Estee Lauder's sleek and elegant packaging. For me, simplicity really is the essence of good design and Estee Lauder always design products that look beautiful in my make up bag. This little case is the perfect size to slot into a clutch bag on a night out, it's light weight and travel friendly too. I love the gorgeous mirrored compact.

The texture: The texture is really nice, light-weight and smooth. At the first touch it feels quite dry, but when you play around with it, it soon loosens up. When applied, I wouldn't say it glides on like a liquid, it goes on quick thick on the first application but it doesn't look cakey whatsoever, it still looks and feels light as you will see from the swatches at the end of the review. It's nice and easy to blend.

Estee lauder Double Wear Stay-In Place High Coverage Concealer
Stayability: This claims to have staying power of up to 12 hours and is described as the brands highest coverage concealer , I personally think it does the trick and stays on all day. I never doubted for a second that this product wouldn't have good staying power.

Colour: The colour range is really good, I got mine in extra light (neutral) which is perfect, as you can see it really isn't that light at all.
All in all, I am very impressed with Estee Lauder's new Double Wear Stay-In Place High Coverage Cover Concealer (such a mouthful!) I had high expectations for this product and it really does live up to Estee Lauders name.  I particularly like how cute and compact it is, the colour is perfect and it really does cover up any skin concerns, including horrific hormonal spots. Estee Lauder's Double Wear Concealer is probably going to be my new beauty staple from now on, it will be travelling everywhere with me. It's so easy to blend so you can easy just top up your concealer on the move. I wasn't really a fan of the double wear foundation, it broke me out and just didn't work for my skin, this feels so much lighter and nicer on the skin.

Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Heavy Duty Under Eye Concealer Review

The Packaging:  I wouldn't usually be a fan of this kind of packaging but I actually love it. Seventeen is a brand which I have never used before, I didn't even realise that they sold it in Boots but I'm going to have to check out some more of their products as they're so affordable. This is slightly bigger than the Estee Lauder concealer compact but still has a gorgeous little mirror inside.

The texture: This product is a lot smoother than Estee Lauder's concealer but the two concealers are designed for different things, with this being a heavy duty under eye concealer. The reason I chose to put them both in the same review is because I find that Estee Lauder's concealer also works really well as a heavy duty under eye concealer. I feel that because this is a bit smoother than Estee Lauder's concealer, it probably doesn't stay as long or have as good oil control.
Stayability:  I haven't really noticed that this slides off my face but I would say that it's slightly oilier than the Double Wear concealer so I feel that it's not as hard wearing for my skin.

Colour: My one issue with this product is the colour, it doesn't look too bad on this photo (bad lighting sorry) but hopefully you'll see on the final swatches that it's quite pink. Personally I go for more yellow tones so I find that this really isn't the same colour as any of my foundations. The colour selection for this product is pretty rubbish and this was the best match that I could get.

Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Concealer
For only £5.99 this is a good product to try if you're new to high coverage, heavy duty concealers. I personally rarely even wear concealer as I only tend to break out once a month (damn you hormones) and the only other time I use it is for under eye circles. Even though these concealers both advertise themselves as high coverage concealers, don't worry if that scares you, I'm not really into high/full coverage and I didn't find that either was too heavy for me. I feel that the Estee Lauder one does feel lighter when it's on the face and whilst the Seventeen one isn't cakey, it could end up being quite cakey depending on how much you apply and what colour you get.

As you can see, the Estee Lauder concealer is more of a yellow colour which is perfect for my skin tone, my face is a lot lighter than my hand. The Seventeen one, unfortunately didn't have a good colour range and seems very pink for me.

Have you used either of these concealers? What's your must have concealer?
Would you like to use either of these? Do you have any concealer tips and tricks? Love Em x

  2. I have been looking so long for a good concealer and eventually got my hands on the much hyoed Wake Me Up concealer. I think I would possibly try the Estee Lauder one. I have switched to a more yellow toned make up so it seems perfect.
    Great review!

  10. Great reviews.
I suppose the 17 one is so pink because it's mainly for use as an under eye concealer. It doesn't look as pink as the Benefit one I currently use, so I think I'm going to have to pick it up :).

    1. Hm maybe but why does that mean it should be pink? It just doesn't suit my skin colour as the colour under my eyes is still the same as the rest of my face really and it's more yellowy than pink, not sure! Yeah pick it up and let me know how you feel about it! x

  14. Great comparison! I'd love to try the Seventeen Phwoarr concealer but I'm worried now that there won't be a good enough match for my skin tone. The Estee Lauder one looks amazing though!!
