I never thought that I'd be able to do my own gel nails at home, but I couldn't believe my luck when I found out about RCM (Red Carpet Manicure) at home Gel Polish Pro Kit. I always assumed that these 'at home' gel polish kits would be difficult to use, they wouldn't look as good and they'd cost a lot, but this little set proved me wrong so I needed to talk to you about it.
I was really excited when I received this cute little box in the post (thank you very much RCM for sending me it to try - as always though, this is my honest opinion!), priced at £89.95, this sounds expensive to begin with and I did actually think woah, that's expensive but when you consider that one gel manicure will cost around £20-30 at a salon, this is actually very well priced. Beauticians pay hundreds for their own UV lamp so I couldn't believe my luck to see that one is included in this kit, again, all for under £90.00. Obviously though, I didn't really think the kit would be half as good as going to the salon to get gel nails but I honestly cannot believe just how good it is.
I thought that it would be really difficult to do, I'm not the most patient person, but actually, I managed to easily give myself a gel manicure, first time, within about 15 minutes. The instruction manual is really easy to follow.
The accessories kit is your new best friend when it comes to gel manicures, if you've ever had your nails done at a salon (I'm guessing that's most of you) then you'll notice that they really do buff your nails down, I guess it's so that the manicure lasts longer and I was surprised at how good this buffing kit was, I did get a bit bored of buffing though so probably should buff my nails for a little bit longer next time. I'm also impressed with how many accessories are inside the box, enough to last me a lifetime I hope.
I went for the winter polishes which I absolutely love, so Christmassy. I'm planning on painting my nails both red and green over Christmas so that I can look like a Christmas tree, oh how festive haha.
I painted my nails with the standard red first which comes with the kit and then put the glitter over the top.
The kit comes with 5 different nail varnishes, I'm not even going to try and explain what each one does because the instructions are so good, you literally just follow the numbers. Basically, you clean your nails, buff your nails, prep them, make them sticky, add colour, make them glossy. There are quite a few steps involved, but even me, who gets confused quite easily, found the instructions fool-proof and very easy to follow.
The kit includes everything you need to give yourself a gel manicure at home.
Obviously it comes complete with its own UV light, the most exciting part of all, don't worry about knowing how to use it, the instructions manual explains it all.
The finished result? Well I think they look pretty good! It's now, two weeks on and they're still in perfect condition, apart from the tiniest little bit missing at the top of my third nail as you can see but only because I snapped that nail. These really are genuine gel nails, just like you get in the salon. Mine may not look as neat as they do when the beauticians have done them (I'm working on that) - I know that they're not the tidiest, but to say that this is my first attempt at gel nails, I'd say they look pretty good, they took me about 15 minutes to do too so half the time that it takes in the salon. I absolutely love this gel manicure kit and I'm quite scared that now I'll never go back to normal nail varnishes again. Uhoh! It's such a weird feeling that I now never need to go to a salon to get gel nails, I can just do them myself at home.
