A Summer's Weekend: Golf, Picnics & Boating

rose garden

Hello! I feel like I haven't had much time to go out, eat, play dress up or anything really recently due to my compulsory placement at University. I've been working 12 hour days unpaid for the experience and whilst it's brilliant (I've learnt so much about the TV industry), I really do feel like I'm missing out on quite a lot of my Summer (I go to Canada in 2 months, woah!). Things feel better this week though because my boyfriend surprised me at the weekend and came to visit me, we had a few relaxed days together and naturally I took my camera out with me so that I could share a bit of the fun with you. I love writing lifestyle posts so much so here's one for you... warning, you might get hungry...

garforth golf range
We started the day off with a round of golf... Jack's outfit is my favourite, all chosen by me (I used to be a stylist for boys as my part time job so I really enjoy clothes shopping for boys haha!)

Obviously I wore the right attire to play a game of golf...

new look playsuit

this was a much needed session at the local driving range... I thought I'd be good at golf but apparently I need a lot of practise...

I left the golf to Jack and spent the next half an hour admiring my new sandals...

They're C/O New Look and were just £7 (the exact reason why I got them in both black and white, it would be rude not to!). I haven't shopped at New Look for years but I was so surprised with how lovely some of their new ranges are. I noticed recently how nice New Look is when I kept clicking on their items on ASOS, without even realising that they were from New Look, I love that they're now stocked on ASOS, you can check out their full selection of sandals here (lots of them are in the sale!). I don't actually think I've ever bought clothes from New Look until now but I did used to buy my heels from there when I was younger as they were always really comfy and affordable.

nails inc richmond gardens
I didn't mean for my nails to match my playsuit but they did and I kinda liked being all co-ordinated. This is a gorgeous new varnish C/O Nails Inc (you may have seen me upload this to my my Instagram) It's part of their floral collection and it's called Richmond Gardens - I am obsessed, you can buy it online here.

picnic

After golf we decided to head back to my garden for a picnic...

fresh strawberries

Nothing beats fresh strawberries...

meat...

marks and spencer picnic

mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes...

and a few cheeky muffins.

We didn't quite know how to cut into the watermelon though...

milk shake

We also had home made milk-shakes too...

strawberry scone

and a ridiculously yummy scone, I popped some strawberries and jam into the middle and it was like biting into a little piece of heaven. Marks and Spencer do the most amazing picnic food.

Completely in my element...

Munching away. I am obsessed with my playsuit, again, lots of you asked where it was from on Instagram (thank you) you can get it online here. Sunglasses, C/O The Sunglasses Hut, available here.

The next day we decided to head to a local park/gardens...

We did a hint of boating...

I got a little bit lost and stuck...

After all that hard work it was time for a Yorkshire ice-cream... biased but it is the best, so creamy and yummy.

Jack didn't enjoy the roses quite as much as I did...

It didn't stop me from sniffing them...

My hair is finally growing, woohoo!

Those sandals again, so versatile and easy to wear.

new look floral shorts

My new shorts are also C/O New Look - can you believe it? I can't! They're so cosy and lovely and they're so cheap! You can find links to my outfit at the bottom of this page. I really want to wear them with either a green crop top or a navy blue blazer.

newby hall
From our bench we spied a house...
newby hall house

The sandals, again, C/O New Look, my top is from Internacionale, which was having a closing down sale and it cost me £1.00! I found some similar knitted vests on ASOS, one here, here and one here. My tan is still natural from my trip to Greece, hooray!

Before we left it was time to make a quick wish at the water fountain...

and take another peek at the roses...

We said goodbye to the house and headed back to my village for pizzas and wine whilst watching the sunset, no cameras allowed at that part I'm afraid, I put my camera away and actually fully relaxed in the moment for once. A brilliant few days was had, thank you Jack for coming to visit me! Oh and I discovered my love for New Look at the weekend too, not a bad weekend after all!

It also gave me the chance to show you my new outfits which you can shop below:

How are you spending your sunny days? Have you had a picnic yet? Are you any good at golf? What's your opinion about New Look?

Lots of love, Em x

  1. That's so sweet that he came to see you, it looks like you had such a lovely time together. 12 hour days sound pretty gruelling, especially unpaid, hang in there you're doing so well! Really looking forward to seeing the Canada posts when you get over there! xxx

    1. Yep! I really really was missing him so it was lovely to see him eek:) Yeah, don't get me wrong I've learnt loads but I personally don't really agree with unpaid work, I've done lots of placements before but I feel like I'm getting a bit old for unpaid work now aha but it was the most amazing money-cant-buy work experience so it's fine! Thanks so much. I cannot wait to start doing my Canada blogging! xxx

  9. I love writing lifestyle posts too , and love reading them even more! Your whole weekend looks amazing, it's so lovely to just have some down time and spend it with a special person isn;t it? It makes the week go that bit quicker and come Monday morning I always feel so refreshed and happy that i've made the most of my time off - even though sometimes it's easier to just collapse into a heap haha!

I always feel a bit self conscious posting life style posts - i get worried that people find them boring or think 'oh there she goes again' haha, but after reading your post it's got me all excited again :)

    1. They're honestly my most favourite things to write. Precisely! It makes me feel so refreshed! Don't feel self conscious, just have fun, be natural and go and do it. Obviously I wouldnt photograph myself having a boring day or going to the supermarket but if you think ooo I want to share this moment/day/outfit, then why the heck not:) Glad my post has helped get that excitement back, hooray! xxx
