Foxy Locks Clip-In Hair Extensions Review

foxy locks hair extensions
If you've been reading Emtalks for a while, you'll know just how much I adore or used to adore hair extensions. I used to wear hair extensions daily and never thought I'd ever stop wearing them. To be honest, I feel a million times more confident when wearing hair extensions. I'm not going to lie, I was absolutely addicted to them (if hair extension rehab exists, sign me up).  It's only when hot-bonded extensions absolutely destroyed my hair (read about that here) that I was told by my hair dresser I had to stop wearing extensions otherwise I would end up bald or would give myself alopecia. Bald patches and dreadlocks were already starting to show so I had to cut all my hair off and start from scratch. I will never recommend bonded extensions to anyone after my awful experience but like most girls, I have bad days where I despise my hair and nearly crack and get them again. Constantly caring for my hair and not touching it is boring and dull - I miss having long luscious locks as vein as that may sound, I feel like they were a massive part of me. I finally took the plunge recently and decided to put some clip ins back into my hair... Don't miss: My top easy tips to grow hair and all the best products for hair growth!

In all of my hair growth guides I've always been quite 'anti-clip' in hair extensions, only because I feel like they're what weakened my hair in the first place (and too much bleach) but like everything in life, too much of anything is always bad for you. I think clip in extensions only ruined my hair because I wore them all day, all night and even slept in them sometimes - for around 4 years. It's like eating at McDonald's every day, you will put on weight. Having something so heavy tugging at my scalp every day for hours was obviously going to take it's toll on my hair. My hair dresser showed me little bald patches above my ears where I'd weakened the hair at the root from sleeping in my extensions.

One year later here I stand and I couldn't be happier with how these extensions look, I finally feel like myself again. I wont be getting addicted to them but I will do what normal girls do and wear them on nights out. Wearing them as much as I did was where I went wrong but I took a year or so off from touching my hair and it's finally regained strength and it's in good condition now.

So let's talk about FoxyLocks...

I always used to see Imogen (owner of Foxy Locks) on Instagram and dreamed of having hair like hers, thankfully she's allowed us all to have it like that now! My favourite thing about Foxy Locks has to be the little bit on the left hand side that comes with every set, it means you can check if the colour is actually right for you so you can buy them with confidence. I got these in shade 'sandy blonde' and went for the superior 230g in 20 inches. I always go for 20 inches in extensions because they do go a lot shorter if you curl them and also, in time, they shed a lot so end up more like 18 inches - from my experience anyway. The colour match is perfect, I thought it would be hard to match my colour at the moment because I'm growing my hair so my colour is a bit of a highlighted mess right now - it looks ombre and that really isn't deliberate. I think these extensions have made my hair look a lot brighter and really brought my hair to life again. Also, the customer service was amazing and they really helped me to find the perfect hair colour match which is so important when buying hair extensions.

In this set you get 1 x 8" wide strip with 4 clips on it (ready sewn too, I/my Mum used to sew my own clips on my hair extensions, it took hours!), 3 x 6" wide with 3 clips, 2 x 5" wide with 2 clips and two x 4/5" wide with 2 clips. You get more than enough hair in this set, I like mine to be extra extra thick and I still had two strips left over. These didn't feel too heavy on my hair at all, in fact I couldn't even feel them on my head. These are definitely some of the thickest hair extensions I've ever come across and for me, thickness is so important with hair extensions.

They were super easy to put in, they literally took me 5 minutes, obviously this comes with practice but I think I might upload a YouTube video to my channel showing people how to clip in hair extensions quickly for the best look. I used no heat on these, this is just how they came. They naturally fell like this and I think they look so effortless and gorgeous (even if I do say so myself) I love extensions that are naturally big and voluminous without any effort at all - these really are 'clip and go' extensions. I think I may become addicted again, uh oh.

I can't wait to play around and add some curls etc. I love how gorgeous, thick and swishy these look when put into a pony tail. So far, the hair hasn't shedded much at all and the thickness has stayed, they don't get tangled and they're an absolute dream to swish around in.

Pricewise, these are very good considering the quality, feel and thickness. I feel like I've used so many different hair extension brands in my time and these ones are very good, I would definitely continue to buy and use these. You can get a regular 125g set here for just £59 - the set that I got is £132 here but it's well worth it for the extra thickness, trust me. If you order online and put the code 'foxyem' in the checkout, you'll get a free gift too (thank me later!) - I was kindly given these to try by FoxyLocks but I have had them for a long time to try properly and as always, this is my 100% honest opinion.

All in all, I'm in love and kind of wish I never put them in because now I never want to take them out.

  4. The colour match is great, I love the look of FoxyLocks. I've had clip in extensions and bonded and my experience with bonded was luckily better than yours! Sounds a nightmare. :(
These look great though, and you wouldn't tell they weren't your own hair.

  9. These extensions looks great on you! I have recently purchased a piece of hair from 'DRTYLOOKS' which is a 'quad weft' and I've had some lovely compliments when I wear them, it is true having longer thicker hair does make me more confident too! Great post, I am going to google Foxy Locks right now :)

  12. Wow these look absolutely gorgeous. I have such curly hair that I don't think I'll every be able to own extensions unless I straighten my hair all the time, but I am so jealous of those of you who can wear them!

  13. I'm in a very similar situation with you with my hair, I've over bleached mine in the past causing little bits to snap and have had to pretty much had to leave mine alone as well which is so annoying! All I want to do is straighten it all the time haha.
I love how these extensions look, the colour match is brilliant :)

  17. Wow, I didn't even twig that these were extensions until I read the title properly! Beautiful locks, but well done you on staying away from the extensions for a whole year! Your hair will be in much better condition now, and now you can use the clip-ons as a treat until yours grows out!
