When my boyfriend decided to book a last minute trip explore Montreal this weekend, I knew I had to make some pretty exciting plans for us. I planned a whole weekend of touristy things to do so that we could explore the city together and I had a little help along the way from Sure. Sure's new 'Moments That Matter' campaign really caught my eye and I'm excited to talk to you about how it helped me out with my date weekend...
I received this beautiful package in the post from Sure. The idea is that these items will help me get through any moments that matter, whether this is a date night, a catch up with my friends, you name it, this is the ultimate moments survival kit. They challenged me to use this kit throughout the weekend. The whole campaign is really cleverly thought out and it really made my day receiving this parcel so thank you very much Sure. I am missing a few bits due to me currently being out of England whilst I blog in Canada, airmail don't allow nail varnishes and hair sprays shipped across the world (boo for me) but I'm more than happy with the above!
Sure explain that life is filled with moments that matter, whether it's hosting or celebrating a special occasion, presenting in an important meeting or even going on a first date, it's in these moments that you want to feel poised and super confident. I think it's a really nice idea, plus, deodorant is something everyone needs and confidence is key in certain situations. I made sure I put their new deodorant to the test this weekend by doing some pretty rigorous things (eating lots of food, running up mountains and riding some river rapids) so let's see how it coped...
The first stop of the day was Eggspectation, a very quirky breakfast place, you may remember it from my Canada foodie post.
We made sure we filled up with lots of food because next it was time to take him to the top of Mont Royal. It was a bright yet chilly day so I wore my favourite new skirt with my coat over the top.
Skirt: Missguided here (only £8.99!) / Shoes: Ebay, similar here and obviously Converse here are pretty much the same too / Coat: H&M, identical cheaper version here / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban here.
The view was beautiful as ever.
The walk up the hill? not so nice. People in Montreal call it a mountain and it pretty much feels like that when stomping up the steep hill to get to the top. This is where my first item from the Sure Moments box came into use, I made sure I wasn't sweating when I got to the top because I'd prepared myself by using their new deodorant when I woke up. Deodorant is one of those annoying things that you need to own, at least this is light-weight and long lasting and the packaging is pretty too. It's meant to be their most effective anti-perspirant yet and I'd have to agree.
After all that walking, we decided to grab a Five Guys - full review coming very soon! Probably the best burger I've ever tasted.
We also maybe, naughtily grabbed a Tim Hortons afterwards too... (this was a weekend of food glorious food and my body will hopefully forgive me for it)
The next day we headed to a local park, La Fontaine Parc. I personally wasn't too impressed with it but after all, England is full of gorgeous parks. It was a lovely day to just sit and relax though. I did want to rent a bike and cycle here, but the roads in Montreal scare me so I think I'll have to pluck up the courage to do that later in the year.
We walked a little further and found this pretty little waterfall.
For a moment, I felt like I was back at home - the park really reminded me of my local park.
I treated myself to a manicure earlier in the week, I found a gorgeous little beauty salon tucked away and chose a coral shade by Essie.
Fur jacket: Missguided old season, but similar here / Shorts: Brandy Melville / Bag: Zara
On our travels, we found this and obviously I had to buy some. You may have seen me Instagram (emshelx) this but honestly, I was in foodie heaven, I love Nutella!
That evening we queued for hours to eat at Montreal's most famous poutine restaurant; La Banquise.
Most of you will know all about Quebec's famous dish; poutine, if you've been reading my Canada posts. Poutine is basically chips, gravy and cheese curds but La Banquise sells around 40 different types of poutine.
The tic-tacs from my box came in use after this, it's safe to say poutine breath isn't the freshest.
The next day, Jack asked me to go on the river rapids with him. No-make up, hair tied back... I was pretty scared so it's a good job I had this little rescue remedy with me from Sure...
It's meant to give comfort and reassurance, it just tastes like alcohol really, I wouldn't say it reassured me but somehow I plucked up the courage to be dragged through water rapids on a speedboat - you may have seen the footage on my Montreal Vlog!
Once we'd dried off and got changed, we ate at Tequila Taco as lots of people recommended it. It was probably the best meal I've had since arriving in Montreal.
Sometimes it's so nice to just sit on a bench and watch the city go by - and that's exactly what we did.
We finished the evening with a crepe from a famous Montreal crepe shop... banana and nutella for me.
On our final day together in Montreal, we visited the botanical gardens...
I highly appreciated the Chinese garden and felt like I was almost back in Vietnam...
we were then surrounded by beautiful lanterns...
Fur headband: ASOS
I took in the view and almost forgot that I was in Canada.
We pretty much had the gardens to ourselves as it was quite a chilly day.
As we wandered more, we stopped and took in the beauty of this particular garden...
I went to check out the cute little house hidden away in the depths of the garden...
and made a wish at the wishing well. I'd love to tell you what my wish was, but you know what they say, a wish doesn't come true if you tell someone what you wished for... I guess you'll have to wait and see...
As we were about to leave, we stumbled upon some pumpkins...
it got me in the mood for Halloween!
I made sure I checked out the olympic stadium too before we left.
We sat down for our final Tim Hortons of the weekend, a hot chocolate and some Timbits.
I had the most amazing weekend, thanks Jack for coming to visit me and thank you to Sure for helping me out with this weekend, ensuring I was feeling fresh and confident all weekend. Make sure you check out their new deodorant (which I've been wearing all month and highly reccommend, it even lasts throughout my hard gym sessions!) I most definitely experienced lots of 'moments that matter' this weekend and I did feel confident and happy all weekend. You can find out more about their new launch here.
Don't forget, you can keep yourself updated with all my Canada travels on Instagram here!
