Whilst in New York we decided to check out the New York High Line. The High Line is 1.45-mile-long and it's a city park built on a section of a disused New York railroad/tracks. It's such a cool, creative concept and spending my morning walking along it was the loveliest start to my day. Come join me for another action packed day in New York city...
It's a very random but modern concept, you climb up some stairs, jump on the line and before you know it, you're elevated above New York with lots of others who are looking for some greenery within the city.
As you walk along the train tracks, you basically walk over the top of many different streets in New York. This is great because it means you get to see so many different parts/angles of New York.
From old factories and houses,
to suburban streets
to incredible street art
the high line really is a unique experience which just basically takes you on a walk through blocks and blocks of New York. It's actually described as a 'park in the sky'.
I wore my new floral trousers from Missguided - available online here, my LVNDR necklaces and just a plain grey tee. This is the comfiest outfit ever, particularly because I was doing lots of walking and my knees were still really sore from my fall in Central Park.
As we continued to walk across the high line, we came across some beautiful little spots to grab a coffee with a beautiful and unique view of the city.
We jumped off the line at Chelsea Market - a must-see for anyone visiting New York.
Chelsea market is full of incredible shops and you might leave feeling a little bit full... it's basically food heaven.
There are dangerously good eateries on every corner.
I stopped to pose by this vintagey looking lift, or elevator as they call it in America.
Everything inside the market is amazing, from the decor, to the atmosphere...
I wanted to try a little bit of everything.
After a good walk around, we left the market and headed into West Village... this is where it gets really exciting...
West Village is a truly stunning neighbourhood
with love-hearts on every corner
and it is here, the moment when I discovered my favourite shop, BookMarc - a Marc Jacobs stationary and book shop. Naturally I ran in and filled my bag up with MJ products.
I would love to live in West Village and I absolutely fell in love with this quirky, beautiful little area of New York city.
As soon as we were done at West Village (I had to be dragged away) we walked across Brooklyn Bridge. Brooklyn Bridge is the bridge that attaches Manhattan and Brooklyn and it's worth walking across it for the amazing views, oh and the pizza at the end.
It was a lovely walk, even though it was a little bit chilly. Meaning that my camel coat came out AGAIN - talk about over-wear but it's the only coat I took with me on my trip (blame hand-luggage allowances)
The views of New York were lovely and just got better as you continued to walk along the bridge
My coat blended in perfectly with the brownness of the bridge.
I held up my new Marc Jacobs sharpie (best purchase ever)
These love locks reminded me of my time in Paris.
The view got even better as we got closer to Brooklyn. It might look dull, but it was still an amazing walk.
We had arrived.
On arrival we headed to Grimaldi's pizza - apparently the best pizza in New York - we truly did have the best pizza in New York (look out for that blog post next) the following day. I would recommend that you avoid Grimaldi's simply because the staff were so utterly rude, the kind of company that knows they're big so they think it's okay to be rude to paying customers.
Bad service aside, we took our over-priced pizza by the river to eat.
We got the chance to see even more beautiful views of Manhattan and it was at this moment, I realised, I never want to leave New York.
Have you visited any of the places above? Have you had pizza in New York? Do you like the look of the places I've mentioned?
Lots of love, Em x
