Top Winter Beauty Products

the best winter beauty products

Ah Winter, how quickly you approach. I'm in Canada at the moment (still here) and it's getting really cold. I never really change my skincare too much in Winter but this year I am going to do just that because everyone knows that cold weather isn't too kind to the skin and I can already feel my face drying up (nice). The weather here is very up and down, one minute it's sunny and the next minute it's chilly - my skin isn't enjoying this at all.  I often stop and think about just how much Winter dehydrates the skin, not to mention the fact that the sun is lower which means more harmful UV rays. So here are a few skin saviours to keep you looking plump, hydrated and bright this Winter! I will not let the weather defeat my skin and I'll be back in chilly England very soon which should feel warm in comparison to Canada!

Sun Cream:

benefit dream screen
Benefit Dream Screen - EVERYONE talks about this and I can see why. This is Benefit's specialist dream screen, an SPF 45, oil free invisible silky-matte sunscreen for the face. Everyone knows that you're meant to wear suncream in Winter, whether that's in your foundation or just by itself but no-one does it really do they? I don't anyway. This works brilliantly as a primer and I'll be wearing it throughout Winter to ensure that no nasty rays get through to my face and make me wrinkly. It's nice that this is specially formulated for the face as well because I usually break out quite badly by using oily sun creams on my skin. This basically works as a three in one moisturiser, primer and sunscreen. Hello hydrated, non-wrinkly, matte skin.

crystal clear protect and repair anti-aging sun protection
Crystal Clear Protect And Repair Anti-Aging Sun ProtectionAnother suncream which I think is brilliant for Winter because it's specially targeted for ageing skin - now I am only 20 but I have always been told that to prevent ageing you should use stuff before you start getting wrinkles so that it prevents rather than treats. I love the packaging of this too, so simple and modern.

Face Masks For Winter:

Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Rose Face Mask

Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Rose Face Mask - This has to be one of my favourite products of all time. I have gone through so many bottles of this and my best friend even uses it now too. I personally store mine in my shower and put it on a few times a week whilst my conditioner is soaking in, I wash it off after about 5 minutes and my skin just feels less tight, fresh, bright and ready to face the day. I love AA because everything is natural and kind to the skin. This is a special hydrating rose face mask which is both moisturising and renewing, honestly perfect for Winter skin tantrums. I feel safe using this because I've been using it for years and it doesn't make me break out at all. Phew.

S5 Vitality Mask
S5 Vitality Mask - Ah you may remember me mentioning this on my April favourites post and it still remains a firm favourite. S5 is honestly one of my favourite brands, everything they create is amazing, natural and face-changing. I tend to put the vitality mask on before I have to go somewhere special as I feel like it just gives me a nice glow and really fixes my face before make up application. It's not going to make you break out (which is my main worry with face masks) because it's organic and is designed for stressed skin. S5 use bioactives from the planets 5 most extreme ecosystems which hopefully proves that so much natural research goes into their products - these people care about your skin! I honestly think this does refine and illuminate my skin so so well. This is exfoliating too but it's main job is to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections by up to 61% (and pore size) so it's basically like the dream mask... sign me up for a lifetime supply please!

Super Facialist By Una Brennan
Super Facialist By Una Brennan - This is another product that I've used for years. I tend to switch between this and the Aromatherapy Associates mask. I'd say they are both quite similar but this one is more creamy whereas the AA one is more of a gel formula, both equally thirst-quenching for dehydrated skin. This smells incredible but it doesn't make me break out because it's designed for sensitive skin. This is perfect for Winter because it's designed to be super thirst-quenching, hydrating and plumping. It's packed with so many amazing ingredients (white willow extract, vitamin e, urea, soothing marshmallow). This just calms my skin down completely plus it's super affordable.

I also recommend Kiehl's Midnight recovery concentrate just to fix any dehydrated skin over night, Clarin's Hydracream is amazing too and always fixes any dry-skin issues.

Exfoliators:

Bioderma Hydrabio Exfoliating Cream
Bioderma Hydrabio Exfoliating Cream - I think this is probably the most perfect Winter exfoliator, firstly it's a cream so it won't dry out already dry skin, secondly it's from Bioderma so it's kind to the skin (a brand I really trust!), also, this is designed for dehydrated and sensitive skin so it's not going to make you break out when you add this to your routine. I get such dry skin in Winter so I need a good exfoliator that isn't going to dry my skin out more, because this both moisturises and exfoliates, it does just the trick.

Best Winter Make Up:

bioderma sensibo bb cream
Bioderma Sensibo BB Cream - This is designed for anti-redness but if you're someone who wants to wear skin-care make up throughout the Winter I would highly recommend a BB cream with a good SPF in it. This has an SPF of 30 and it's a BB cream so it's basically like putting skincare on your face every day instead of heavy, pore-clogging foundation. I notice a huge difference in my skin when I don't wear foundation for a while but instead swap for BB/CC Creams.

I also recommend Bourjois CC Cream (my favourite and it's so good for your skin), any sort of good lipbalm, my favourite is Nuxe Rev De Miel as cold weather makes my lips go awful.

Body:

LanoLips Lovely Lanoline Triple Buttermilk Body Balm
LanoLips Lovely Lanoline Triple Buttermilk Body Balm - This body balm is designed for very dry skin and it's packed with triple lanolin, vitamin e and milk. If you've got dry, dehydrated skin then this is the body butter for you (you should all know by now how much I love my body butters!) I rate this one very highly.

Kiko Intensive Hand Balm
Kiko Intensive Hand Balm - I'm not that much of a hand cream lover, I do love the tiny tubes of it from The Body Shop once in a while (and only because it smells so so good) but cold hands = dry skin so Kiko's intensive hand balm for dry hands is probably the best bet if you're going to be getting your hands out in the cold! I think I'll be needing a lot of this!

Another option that recently caught my eye online is skin boosters. These treatments are ideal for anyone wanting to indulge in extra pampering and maintain a radiant complexion through the colder months. Skin boosters deliver deep hydration while boosting collagen production by injecting a blend of hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and antioxidants into the skin. This treatment helps keep the skin hydrated from within and can be seamlessly integrated with your winter skincare routine to keep your glow lasting well into the summer."

Naturally I also recommend any form of body butter from The Body Shop - my favourite ever - I swear by it (in no way sponsored, I just absolutely adore it).

Do you have any Winter skincare tips and tricks? Are there any products you swear by during the colder months? Have you used any of these? Do you like the look of them?

Lots of love, Em x
