Lola Rosa; Food Porn At It's Finest

vegan nachos
I wanted to talk to you about my favourite new eating place. I know that most of you reading this are dotted all around the world so might not get the chance to visit, but I still wanted to share this magical foodie haven with you because I feel like you can probably re-create these dishes at home with your friends but also, it's part of my Canadian adventure and I promised you could come along for the ride with me. I'd like to introduce you to Lola Rosa, my first experience of this kind and certainly not my last.

Fall is fast approaching in Canada and everyone knows, cold weather makes you long for good, hearty food.

I can't believe how crisp and perfect the leaves are in Montreal at the moment...

After a long walk in the crunchy leaves, it was time to grab some much-needed food.

We were told to eat at this restaurant by a number of locals and actually, I turned my nose at first because I'm not vegan, I love meat. However, I do make a lot of vegan recipes myself just because they're healthy and natural so I thought, why not try it. We waited outside for almost 2 hours before we were allowed in and gosh, I'm glad I didn't walk away...

Before the meal even arrived I instantly fell in love, the shabby yet comfortable decor, the big cushions and the little drawers on each table bursting with sentimental notes written by other customers.

The notes certainly put you in a happy, feel-good mood, some of them are really moving and I only hope I can bring my Mum here one day too.

My addition to the notes is extremely cliche, but I stand by the idea that everything does happen for a reason, in most cases anyway.

By the time we'd read through a few notes, the food had arrived...

lola rosa nachos

above is a small portion of nachos...

lola rosa nachosand this is a standard sized one. We started with the nachos to share between 4 of us, and wow, they were heavenly. I'm a nacho girl, through and through and vegan nachos are just something else, they are spectacular and they don't feel half as naughty as normal nachos do.

vegan lasagne Our tummys were bursting after the starter but we powered through. My friend went for the vegan lasagne, I really didn't think this would be nice but it was delicious. Probably not too healthy as it was extremely cheesy but it was heaven in my mouth.

I went for the chili which was truly delicious - I didn't realise chili could taste good without the meat. It was so flavoursome and fresh because of the yummy veg on top. More nachos for me too.

My other friend went the curry which was apparently delicious...

and then finally, the enchilada which literally looks insane. I'll be getting that next time!

I powered through my chili but ended up taking half of it home for lunch the next day.

I've already visited Lola Rosa twice and I will be visiting again very soon. The service was pretty slow but the great food and great company made up for it. Can we find somewhere like this in the UK please?

How do you feel about vegan food? Have you ever heard of this place or anything like it? Do you love nachos too?

Lots of love, Em x
