A few days ago I hopped on the train to London for an exciting few days of meetings, catch ups and events. I love doing lifestyle posts and telling you all about exciting events and mainly, food! So let's get started...
As soon as I arrived, I hopped in an Uber taxi (the easiest way to get around - I swear by it and now available in Leeds, Manchester, New York, Canada you name it - sign up here or use this promo code on the app: 'w8rm4' to get a free £10 taxi! Or use promo code EMSHELDON to get a free £15 - Thank me later!) straight to meet the beautiful Sammi. I've been seeing a lot more of Sammi recently and I am loving it. You know when you just get on with someone and time passes so quickly because you have so much to discuss every time you see that person? Yep, that's us. She is the sweetest most beautiful girl and I am so lucky to have her as a friend also her YouTube (BeautyCrush) is mega addictive.
Sammi always chooses the best brunch places. We headed to The Riding House cafe and naturally I went for eggs - when don't I go for eggs?
I think Liberty is my favourite shop ever - it's so British and so beautiful. I want to live inside it.
It was time for Sammi to get back to her gorgeous new dog and time for me to get ready for the night ahead. I don't usually stay over in London, I tend to try and cram everything into one day but this time I had two full days of events so I decided to get a hotel. I stayed at the most incredible hotel and I am so excited to talk to you about it - I'm sure you saw me Tweet/Instagram/Facebook it all week though!
The Amba Hotel Charing Cross is in such a convenient location - perfectly placed for pretty much everything in London. It's a stunning building, with incredible rooms and the most amazing, courteous, kind staff. They couldn't do enough for me! One of the lovely ladies behind the counter actually said she reads my blog so we had a good old chat! I am big on customer service and I was truly blown away by the service I received by the hotel staff from the minute I walked through the door.
The hotel is a dream, it's so London and truly made me so excited to be back in the city. I go to London so much but it was lovely to stay in a nice authentic British hotel.
Little touches like a red phone box, gorgeous chandeliers and stunning candles made it feel warm, comfortable yet opulent and classy. I do love a luxury hotel which doesn't feel stuffy.
I arrived in the most stunning room (try and get room 606!) - I was meant to be sharing it with a friend but she was ill last minute so I had the whole suite to myself.
I spent hours getting ready in the beautiful, clean bathroom and showered for way too long because it was such a beautiful, waterfall shower - pure luxury.
an incredible complimentary mini bar (even a Nespresso machine for me to use too!)
two gorgeous beds (I didn't want to leave the room it was so perfect)
and the most beautiful views of London.
I sat with some chocolates and a chilled glass of wine and started to get ready for the night ahead (however, prising myself away from this stunning room was a task in itself!)
I went for my favourite black two-piece (outfit post coming soon!)
I also went for neutral make up but did my Valentines lips (you may remember this from my Valentines Make Up Tutorial!)
I hopped in another Uber - (I wasn't lying when I said I rely on them to get me around!) and headed to meet Carly & Polly (two girls who I instantly bonded with and absolutely adore - two Northern beauties!) for the Real Techniques Bold Metals event!
As soon as I arrived I saw Sammi again and we grabbed a glass of champagne! I literally jumped on her!
The event was beautiful and so well thought out, everything was metal themed - even the cakes!
The brushes, naturally are stunning too. You can get the collection online here if you fancy a little look!
I got to catch up with some of my favourite blogger girlies and just take in the beautiful views.
Polly and Carly took to the Photo Booth!
So did Nic & Sam!
Then it was round two for Me & Sammi! Becca joined in this time too!
A little photoshoot later...
It was time to head back to my hotel and say goodbye to such lovely girls. I jumped into my dressing gown back at the Amba Hotel and played on the free in-room iPad (the dream!)
I took in the beautiful city lights (and never wanted to move from the comfiest bed I've ever slept in!)
I also admired my brushes one last time and then it was soon time to rest my sleepy head for another exciting day!
I had the loveliest day and night and can't wait to tell you about what else I got up to. I absolutely adored the Amba Charing Cross hotel and will be staying there more often - it made my trip less stressful and quite frankly, I could have happily spent the whole two days in the beautiful bed - the hotel was so perfect I honestly didn't want to leave. I would highly recommend staying there - I must take my Mum there next time to experience the beautifulness and the ease of it too due to the location!
Have you ever fallen in love with a hotel so much? Do you visit London much? Do you love Real Techniques? Do you also love brunch?
Lots of love, Em x
