Visit Mexico In The UK!

Ooo you've got two blog posts from me today! Firstly, thank you for the lovely and over-whelming response to my Michael Kors bag giveaway - I am loving your comments and promise to keep bringing you a mixture of beauty, fashion, travel and fitness this year! Keep an eye out as I have lots planned for my blog over the next few weeks! So I was contacted recently about a really exciting new exhibition (don't click off - I promise it's not boring, it includes food from my favourite place) and the reason I wanted to talk about this in particular is because my exploring Mexico post (I still have two more to come don't worry!) went down really well and a lot of you said you'd love to visit. As most of you know, I had the time of my life and wanted to talk to you about an opportunity for you to sample Mexico without having to get on a plane hooray! I know a lot of people can't always just hop on a plane and end up at a sunny destination which is why I think this is a nice little day out instead!

2015 is already shaping up to be an amazing year and apparently, 2015 is the year of Mexico in the UK! What does the year of Mexico mean though?

- 2015 marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration between Mexico and the United Kingdom (hooray, looks like I should try visit again this year then!).  For twelve months, the two countries will create new connections in the areas of culture, arts, education, science, innovation, trade and investment - and you don't even need to jump on a  plane to see it!

- Over the course of this year, there will be a series of events taking place across the UK,  all of which are designed to address the preconceptions people have about Mexico. I know for one that my Mum didn't want me to visit Mexico because she said it was unsafe and I honestly had the time of my life. Another reason why I wanted to bring these events to your attention because after visiting Mexico, I feel like it will always have a place in my heart. As much as I adore guacamole (and ate my body weight in it) Mexico is way more than just amazing food.

- There's a year long schedule of events and activities to look out for across the UK if you also love all things Mexico like me - just read more here.

So what is this exhibition? You can visit a pop up Mexico Exhibition from now until mid-March. I was invited to the exhibition but couldn't get down to London unfortunately (so please go and visit for me or hopefully I'll pop in very soon!). Also, good news for us Northerners, keep an eye out because it will be in other cities too later on in the year.

Now is your chance to experience modern Mexico in the UK - Okay I get it isn't as good as going to actual Mexico but if anyone mentions Mexican food I'm there and let me tell you, there is food there! This pop-up pavilion is on London's South Bank as a way to celebrate the Year of Mexico in the UK - I personally think it would make a lovely little lunch break trip or a date day - um I think I'll be asking my boyfriend to take me when it's in the North!

So why should you go? You'll be able to discover the interesting story of Mexico (I actually watched a documentary about Mexico before I went and it really opened my eyes), once you've worked up that appetite, you'll be able to sample authentic Mexican cuisine (count me in), with fresh market food prepared by acclaimed Mexican restaurant, Wahaca (I need to go simply for this!).

The dome will be travelling to the North, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh later in the year so keep an eye out. It's open in London until the 12th March and is on Potters Field Park next to the City Hall from 10am - 8pm - need another excuse to go? Entry is free!

If you missed the first instalment of my Mexico travels you can read that here!

So there we have it, will I be seeing any of you there in the next few weeks or maybe at the Northern ones? How do you feel about Mexico? Do you have any preconceived ideas about the country? Have you ever visited? What was your favourite thing about Mexico?

*I worked with the Mexico Exhibition on this post but as always, it is 100% my honest opinion and the fact that I just got back from Mexico made me want to write about this even more, I am in love with this beautiful country. I really want my readers to be able to experience a little bit of Mexico too seen as it's currently my favourite destination. I am so desperate to go back. Keep an eye out for the next few parts of my Mexico travels on my blog!

Lots of love, Em x
