Hello hello! So I promised to talk to you about island life in my next Bahamas blog post and today is island life day! Firstly, I'd like to apologise if some of my photos are a little blurry for some people - I am working with really poor wifi connections at the moment and I'm really upset that some people are seeing them a little blurry as obviously my content takes me so long to shoot and write so I wish my wifi/blogspot would get it's act together as no-one wants blurry photos! I will get it fixed as soon as I am home! Remember you can always catch up with me instantly on Instagram or Twitter though (emshelx) and I promise those photos aren't blurry! Whilst in the Bahamas, I spent quite a lot of time at Sandal's Cay Island, just a boat ride away and trust me, I'm excited to show you around, here's your one way ticket to this beautiful gem...
On our boat ride, we passed ships and locals
and before we knew it, we had arrived
the island was peaceful and calm
not to mention this island offers spa treatments?! I had a massage which was probably one of the nicest massages I've ever had (candle wax poured over my spine... a truly lovely experience - my skin left feeling happy, rejuvenated and hydrated).
We wandered through the island
spotting conch shells
and beachy swings.
I swung
(Playsuit online here - from the Michelle Keegan by Lipsy collection)
and I swung
and then the red flag came up - it was getting tropical!
In the distance, we could see Nassau
but it felt nice to be on a nice little island, away from everything
Of course I had my favourite sandals ever on - (online here and only £18!)
I wore my gorgeous bikini which is from Seafolly and was kindly sent to me by Simply Beach - they sell so much beautiful stuff.
You may remember my new Ray-Bans from my Montreal Old Port post but you can get similar ones for £7.00 at LVNDR - thank me later. Naturally I kept my beautiful sandals on.
We left the swings alone and went for lunch
I had conch fritters which were utterly delicious
It was time to get out of my bikini and get back on that swing after lunch
I wore my new playsuit - online here - it's so easy to wear!
We went to the back of the island and searched for sharks
we had no luck.
The next day, we wandered some more
I played around in my new LVNDR tie back crop top (only £12.99!) and my favourite new suede skirt from Missguided (online here) - if you get one, order a size down, I got a size 8 thinking it would be super tight and it's way too big for me! I really want a matching suede top now to go with it though.
Nothing beats days spinning around on an island.
On our second day at the island, I had more conch. I've gone from a fish hater to a fish lover. I need to get my fitness back on track after all this though - conch fritters are probably the most delicious things I've ever tasted but apparently they're packed with calories - oops. You only live once ey.
I pranced around the beach wearing my LVNDR crochet crop top after lunch and my favourite new water melon skirt which was kindly sent to me by a brand called Batoko.
I quickly put my bikini bottoms back on with my Nasty Gal bralet (comfiest thing ever). It was way too hot for clothes! Be careful with white swim wear - I've basically given up on this bikini because the chlorine/water has destroyed it - two days of wearing it and it's dirty and bright yellow - not a happy bunny!
We swung some more
and wandered around the island (and dipped in and out of beautiful jacuzzis but I personally preferred the ocean!)
I also got the chance to give my favourite white two piece an outing too; top online here - skirt online here.
It was time to head back to main land after an amazing two days on the island - the island is owned by Sandals and is free to use for resort guests, I would highly recommend going there most days as it is peaceful and like a pure haven - I'm pretty sure on day 1 it was just us and like 5 other people on it. It was a great way to relax away from any stresses. I would personally book this hotel again purely for the island and the amazing food there too! I've never seen something so private and beautiful. Sandals resort has impressed me more than I can explain, insanely incredible food (all included too), epic service and just the most beautiful views and scenery plus, you're just steps away from all the action outside of the hotel too (something we did later in the week!)
I got changed for dinner on the pier that evening, Gordon's on the pier is Sandal's exclusive restaurant so I wore black and white for the occasion.
White skirt, online here / I wore this black dress as a top / Shoes, old from All Saints
We waited for dinner with beautiful cocktails - this one even matched the sunset!
Then we indulged in some yummy steak and lobster with epic views.
Our next stop? A day of more eating in the local town and not to mention, some island hopping almost 40 miles across the ocean - let's just say, it was time for some more island life - below is a little hint!
If you missed my first post about my first few days in the Bahamas you can read that here!
Hopefully you can see that for once in my life, instead of running around like a mad woman, I actually took some time to relax on this trip, on my first few days, I got to know the dreamy resort, on my next few days, I took in the surrounding beauty and chilled out on the dreamiest island and then, the madness began... watch this space for part 3!
Have you ever spent some time on a remote island? Do you like the look of this island? Have you ever stayed somewhere with it's own island?
Lots of love, Em x
