A few weeks ago myself and my Mum decided to head to London for a girlie day. It's not often that I actually go to London for pleasure so it's safe to say I was really looking forward to a little bit of down time. I'm pretty sure I never have down time. We were invited to St Martin's Courtyard to look around, relax and enjoy the day, here's what we got up to!
We jumped off our train and wandered down to the courtyard - it's just a few minutes away from Covent Garden and if you didn't know it was there you'd probably miss it. I've had a meeting at the Bills restaurant (one of my fave restaurants ever) there before and didn't even realise it was in a courtyard!
Our first stop was Relax for some much needed massages
It was really nice to go to a spa in the middle of a crazy busy city. I wish I had more time for massages because I would love a weekly massage! I always feel so amazing after them.
After our massage, we did some shopping. I fell in love with this flower shop.
You just cannot beat beautiful flowers
Then we headed into Blow for a blow dry
I've heard lots about Blow but this was my first time trying the new blow dry bar.
They sit you down and offer you an iPad, tell you to choose which blow dry you want from the blow dry menu (e.g., curly, straight etc) then wash your hair and within 30 minutes you're done and ready to walk out of the door into central London feeling like a new woman.
I was more than happy with the way my hair was blow dried
and left feeling extremely happy as I can never be bothered to blow dry my own hair.
Once we were feeling nice and pampered, it was time for lunch
There are so many places to eat in St Martin's Courtyard (Bills is my personal fave but I decided to go elsewhere for a change, we almost went to Jamie's Italian but I wasn't impressed the last time I went to a Jamies) we decided to go to Dishoom because I have heard such amazing things. Dishoom is a Bombay Cafe (well more of a restaurant) and oh gosh did it impress (I'll be going back as soon as I can)
We nibbled on pakoras
calamari which was amazing
as well as deep fried okra - they were like spicy, crispy green beans.
This was an Indian style fish and chips and oh it was so spicy and delicious
We munched and we munched until our bellies almost popped
The chicken tikka was so succulent I wanted to savour every bite
In fact, absolutely everything was amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough, it was my kind of food, small tapas style food but amazing flavours and spices
I sipped my drink
It was only lunch time and Dishoom was absolutely rammed. The service was out of this world, the atmosphere was amazing and the food was even better.
I cannot wait to go back here, it may just be my favourite new eatery ever.
Before we headed home, it was time for a little more shopping...
Sometimes it's so nice to just have a day of massages, pampering and of course, food and shopping. I need to do this more often. What more could a girl want? After this, we headed to Oxford Street to do some personal shopping with Topshop which was just an absolute dream come true - make sure you read about that here if you missed it!
Have you ever heard of St Martin's Courtyard? Do you like London? Do you like nice tapas food? Do you love massages too?
Lots of love, Em x
