Turning Negatives, Into Positives

Hello hello hello, I really didn't know what to write about today but then suddenly, it hit me. Let's talk about turning negative situations, into positive ones. I can be my own biggest enemy sometimes, over-thinking and getting over emotional in my own little head and worrying over nothing. Recently, I’ve been trying really hard to turn negatives into positives. So here’s a little post, about why I’m doing that and some little situations in life where we can turn negatives into positives.

It’s okay to have a bad day - I used to beat myself up over having a bad day. A family friend was murdered *deep, sorry* and ever since that happened, it changed my outlook on life. I was forever beating myself up for getting worked up and every time I got upset, I'd say to myself: he would do anything to be here. Stop it Em. I guess what I’m getting at though is it’s totally okay to have a bad day. We are human. We have emotions, yes you may feel really angry because your ASOS order didn't arrive on time and yes you may be really angry because there's traffic, as long as you can control this it's totally normal to get a bit tetchy! It's okay to feel like everythings on top of you. Even if, in the grand scheme of things, everything is fine. I try to tell myself that daily, but sometimes, my little mind tells me it isn't. Once I've snapped out of it, rational Em remembers that rainy days make flowers and there’s always going to be someone in a worse situation than you. Obviously if things get really seriously that's when it's important to talk to someone, seek help. I have family members who have had great advice from Samaritans in the past, anonymously too.
Gym kit - online here.

You’re having a bad body day? - Hopefully you’ve read my top body confidence tips, so bad body days are no more, hehe. But the best thing to do if you’re having a bad body day? Go do some exercise! Seriously. You wont regret it. Fresh air releases endorphins as does exercise. There's something so feel good/head cleansing about fresh air. Fair enough, some days we want to sit with a tube of Pringles and 12 pizzas, that’s okay too, as long as it’s in moderation. But I honestly find a bad body day is fixed by doing something about it and getting rid of that sluggish feeling!

He/she dumped you - Okay, this is something I could go into massively. First up, read my: how getting cheated on affected me post, to see how I feel about relationships/boys. To put it simply: if someone dumped you, it wasn’t meant to be. I know it’s easier said than done (trust me, I’ve been there, I've felt horrendous - not eaten, honestly felt like throwing myself infront of something would be an easier option for a split second) but once you get over the first morning, things start to look up. I promise. You may feel like someone is your world but you were fine before them and you'll be fine after. Trust me, this is coming from someone who's had a broken heart. For me, after going through the standard: crying and then eating everything in sight, I then usually decide to do something about how crappy I feel, put on my trainers, go to the gym and make him regret ever leaving me haha. But seriously, if someone doesn’t appreciate you for who you are, wait for the person who would do anything for you. It’s the most cliched saying in the world: but what will be will be and if it’s meant to be, it will find it’s way.

You really wanted an opportunity and it didn’t happen - this has happened to me loads of times and there are always many reasons as to why someone/an opportunity just wasn’t for you at that chosen time. I remember being royally gutted when I didn’t get a part time job at Topshop, I ended up getting one somewhere way better instead when I was younger and I actually met my current boyfriend in that job! Every cloud has a silver lining!

You have serious FOMO (fear of missing out) - For me, the most annoying thing is clashes, I feel like I am forever missing out on amazing opportunities because everything in my life seems to clash, I promise, opportunities come and go and always come back around. Just like the job situation, what will be will be!

You don’t feel good enough - YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH. You really are someones reason to smile it, even if it doesn’t feel that way. Trust me, I have those days where for no reason, I feel absolutely dreadful but I promise you, you are good enough. Again, my way of getting around this is working out and eating well. It seriously works! Oh and it’s best to just eliminate people from your life who make you feel that way anyway. No-one should ever make you feel like you’re not good enough.

You keep comparing yourself - Whether this is to his ex girlfriend, friends, other girls, guys, anything. Comparison is the thief of joy. Stop it now.

You put more effort into people than they do with you - That’s totally okay. I know which person I’d rather be! Continue being thoughtful, generous and kind. It’s always better to be nice. Equally though, use your voice if you have one.

So there we have it, just a few situations but hopefully it helps someone out :) I know it's much easier said than done, if only it was that easy to be of rational, non-over thinking mind all the time, but hey, even if this helps one person! Feel free to share any of your positive tips!

Lots of love, Em x
