I thought I'd write a relaxing post today, whilst I'm currently relaxing at home. I can't remember the last time I relaxed so Christmas has been great for me. I feel re-energised and ready to create exciting, new content in 2017. I stayed at The K West Hotel SO long ago, so that is probably a little idea of how busy I've been. I'm seriously still behind on life but hey, we're getting there and I'm finally getting on top of things! Today I'm going to talk you through the loveliest stay and the most insane meal at STK London. I love nothing more than staycations, Matt and I love going to London and pretending to be tourists and we did a lot of that in 2016. I'm sure you're all aware of just how much I love good restaurants and it's safe to say, todays post features one of my favourite restaurants to date.
I love just how many hotels there are in London. I love the wide variety of hotels. They all differ and I make it my mission to stay in even more this year. The K West is in a really different but really nice location, just located next to Shepherds Bush. It's great if you're wanting to be over that side of London and super close (walking distance) to Westfield for shopping. The K-West is really quirky, filled with amazing art but it's so comfortable. I was surprised at how big our room was. I could move in honestly, it was divine. I felt so pampered and cosy whilst there, the service at the front desk was great too. We spent our first day relaxing in the room and then headed out for dinner at one of my favourite restaurants, STK. We jumped in an Uber taxi across London (bad idea when it's rush hour - but STK were absolutely fine with us arriving a little late). You can get a £15 free Uber taxi with promo code EMTALKS15 if you are wanting to use it in any city too! It makes my life way easier. I live in Ubers.
I've visited STK in Miami and haven't stopped telling people about how great it was. I honestly don't think anywhere compares. Imagine luxurious steaks, incredible sides, epic service and top quality food and cocktails. It really is the best of the best and there's a reason I tell everyone about it. Until now, I'd never visited the London STK so I was incredibly excited. Tucked away inside the ME Hotel in London, we headed to our table in the loud restaurant. STK is romantic but extremely loud, I'd say it's more of a bar/club meets luxurious restaurant. I love the vibrancy of the restaurant. It puts me in such a good mood.
The bread to start was heavenly, freshly baked and the perfect sharing plate.
You can't go to STK and not get the mac & cheese, broccoli and truffle parmesan fries. The most over-indulgent, rich but delicious sides you'll ever have in a restaurant. Fact.
I don't know how we did it, but we somehow managed the dessert platter too.
I wish I could say I'll go to STK one day and not order a starter or sides so I actually have room, but the octopus and mini sliders have been so good both times now, I can't resist them. Maybe I'll go halves on the sides, or maybe not. Maybe the Canadian in me is the reason for the mac and cheese, but whatever it is, this place is worth every single calorie. I'm a huge restaurant lover and for me, STK is truly unbeatable. I already can't wait to go back. It's the kind of food you dream about.
Date night dress of choice? This simple, white Missguided bardot dress. I'd had a blow dry at Sassoon so everything was feeling great. Online here and here.
I seriously didn't want to leave the following morning. They have an incredible spa in this city hotel which we sadly didn't have the time to use. I'll definitely be back! We had a quick wander around the shops before heading home after the loveliest stay.
Any excuse to give my new coat a spin. My two-day blow dry from Sassoon still going strong too!
Coat online here. It's currently half price!!! All in all, STK remains one of my favourite restaurants, both in Miami and London now and I'll certainly recommend it to anyone for incredible drinks, food and atmosphere. I love that you can go upstairs to Radio Rooftop bar too after your dinner and get the most incredible views of London. I also loved staying in a different area of London with the K-West, it's hard to find such a brilliant, large, relaxing spa hotel in a city and this one really is fantastic. I'm still dreaming of that bed.
Do you like staycations? Do you like steak? Have you visited the K-west or STK?
