Titanic Spa, Huddersfield Review & The Best Quiet Spots In Leeds

My life is pretty hectic, I'm okay with that. I split my time between Leeds and London, often abroad too and sometimes, I just need to recharge my batteries. I'm sure you'll know that if you've read my travel posts. I'm a motivated, life-loving person and love nothing more than making good use of my time. It's safe to say I am a little bit of a workaholic but it's something I've been working on recently (you can read about what my job actually entails here). The best thing for me about being busy is that it means I appreciate my 'me' time, and quiet time a lot more. Whether that's an hour in the bath, an hour at the gym or an hour on the sofa doing absolutely nothing, I cherish those moments of calm now. Recently, I got the chance to explore a venue not too far from home for a little bit of relaxation. Challenged by Virgin Experience days to find a little bit of calm in the city, here is my ultimate guide to relaxation in the North of England and you know what? As much as I adore London, the North really needs shouting about, it's so underrated. Let's change that and shout about it!

The Best Spa In The North Of England:

The best way to grab some relaxation? First stop, head to a spa for the weekend. So many people have asked me after seeing my Instagram/Snapchat (emshelx)  where I stayed a few weekends ago and the secret is finally out! I spent the weekend at the beautiful Titanic Spa. Tucked away in Huddersfield, you may think you were nestled in some Austrian mountains. This has been voted the top spa in the North and I can see why. I actually visited years ago and wasn't too impressed purely because of the service, but I'm pleased to say it exceeded all my expectations this time around. We checked into the most incredible apartment you've ever seen (over looking the beautiful hills), made ourselves at home and then were treated to a three course lunch. After lunch, we used the spa facilities all day. I did have a little bit of work to do (I told you relaxation isn't my strong point), but luckily, the facilities are open until 9pm, meaning we weren't rushing to use them before they closed. After lunch, I was treated to the most incredible massage, an hour of bliss and probably one of the best massages I've had in a UK spa. My favourite thing about Titanic Spa is how quiet it seemed, even though there were a lot of people there, I didn't notice. We spent our evening watching the stars in the new outdoor hot tub and said cheers to relaxation.

Jumper, online here.

I basically jumped around in the gorgeous room when we arrived. Never wanting to check out. It was utter paradise from the word go.

Before dinner, I got the chance to relax in our amazing apartment and pamper myself (I finally got to wear my new night dress too). You can watch my video about this online here.

We got ready for dinner and headed downstairs. The spa is honestly beautiful, it feels so far away from home and the food impressed me beyond belief this time round.

I had lamb meatballs and chicken breast.

I wore my favourite new dress. Online here.

For dessert we nibbled on the most delicious chocolate truffles.

Our package deal with Virgin Experience days included an overnight stay, a breakfast hamper in the room, lunch, dinner and use of the facilities. The new bar within the spa meant we could go pay extra for a few G&T's before bed! I'd highly recommend using them to book trips, you get such good value for money.

The following morning, we opted for late check out and they were more than happy to assist. It was then time to head back home! I was so impressed with Titanic Spa and will definitely be heading back.

We went on a lovely countryside walk before we left!

Other top places in Leeds for relaxation/to find some peace in the city:

Hepworth's Deli - My favourite place to watch the world go by and grab a coffee or a sharing board.

Nails Inc Harvey Nichols - I go here once a month for an hour of relaxation, whether I'm having a pedicure or getting my gels done, I always feel relaxed getting pampered here. It's honestly my little slice of heaven. Glass of champagne in one hand, whilst getting well and truly pampered.

Sassoon Salon - I love nothing more than getting my hair done, I always feel completely relaxed within the city centre when I sit here with a green tea and my magazines. Sassoon is the best salon I've come across for professionalism. They've fixed my hair. Read about them here.

Betty's Harrogate - Whilst it isn't in Leeds, it's close by, in Harrogate. Even though it's busy, you are so well looked after and that cater to your every need. You are not rushed and can sit with the most delicious cakes ever in front of you, all day long if you wish. It is the ultimate destination for afternoon tea, I totally understand why so many people travel far and wide to visit. An absolute must visit if you're 'up North' and trust me, I've tried many afternoon teas. This is unbeatable. See my review of Betty's Tearooms

The Body Shop VIP Room - If you watched my vlog (www.youtube.com/emshelx), you'll know that I recently went to the new Body Shop, they've got a special VIP room and you'll leave feeling so relaxed when you've talked through beauty products!

Liz Earle Leeds - This is my favourite place in Leeds for massages, I couldn't believe it was in the middle of a busy shopping centre. It seriously is amazing.

Leeds Museum and Art Galleries - I know these are favourites amongst art students, but they're well worth a visit and they're very calm. It's great to feel cultured in the city.

Angelica - Easily the best bar in Leeds. It's perfect for a quiet brunch, a sit down outside on the amazing balcony with the best views in the city, or, a fancy night out. I spend most weekends at this beautiful bar. The service is epic, the drinks are epic. I cannot recommend it enough.
