Luxury Weekend In Manchester; Grand Pacific Manchester Review, Kingstreet Townhouse Hotel Manchester

Manchester is one of the places I don't visit enough, mainly I guess because it rains every single time I visit. Remember the hairdresser I told you about? 'The one', my favourite hair dresser as he's the one who took my hair from zero growth and maximum to damage to full head of hair and happily growing? Yep, Lee, my amazing hairdresser from Sassoon moved to the Manchester Sassoon salon meaning I'm going to be spending a lot more time in Manchester, purely for hair cuts alone. I guess I'm loyal to a good hairdresser so have been spending time between Leeds Sassoon, Manchester Sassoon and London Sassoon's too for my regular blow dries. They can't get rid of me. Last week I headed to Manchester for a romantic night with Matt, but first, obviously stopped via Sassoon for a fresh hair cut. Come enjoy a date weekend with us in Manchester and see what we got up to...oh and I also got to trial out one of the best hotel pools in the UK too!

Good 4 and 5 star European hotels always blow me away. I find the star system works differently in Europe as a 4 star in Europe is always way better than a 5 star elsewhere. Kingstreet Townhouse definitely gets a 5 star from me. I can't believe I've only just discovered this place, what a hidden gem. This gorgeous boutique hotel comes with an incredibly large, plush room, the nicest bathroom ever, epic service and an amazing spa. It's safe to say, we had an amazing stay.

We got ready for dinner in our gorgeous bathroom. It was an absolute pleasure getting ready here. Fresh hair cut by Sassoon and using my new Topshop nude lipstick too, it was time to get date night ready.

I couldn't resist a dip in King Street Townhouse's beautiful bath.

We headed to Manchester's newest restaurant, Grand Pacific. Grand Pacific is owned by Living Ventures, one of my favourite restaurant groups. You'll have seen me talk about The Alchemist and Blackhouse a lot, not to mention my number 1, Australasia so I was more than excited to try this place out. It's their second Grand Pacific in the city and is actually only about 5 minutes walking from the hotel. The building is absolutely beautiful, think dark, grand and very Gatbsy.
pineapple cocktail glass
We started with a pineapple cocktail of course. You can actually keep this if you pay a little extra and it works out cheaper than if you bought it in the shop. You can buy them online individually here though.

The menu is divine, with a mix of options from steak to fish and everything in between. I'd describe it as fusion food, with standard dishes sprinkled with a hint of Grand Pacific.

You must try this place for cocktails, in true Living Ventures style, the cocktails blew me away. I've never seen such beautiful cocktails.

grand pacific manchester food
To start, I had gyozas, they were cooked to perfection, deliciously crisp and melt-in-the-mouth inside.

grand pacific manchester starter
Matt went for a sushi bowl and barely spoke to me whilst eating it as he said it was so good. Matt went for  a lightly-coated sea bass and said it was so soft and delicious.

grand pacific manchester steak
I'm a bit of a steak connoisseur as you'll know if you've read any of my restaurant reviews, and this was a meaty, delicious and very well cooked steak.

We couldn't resist my favourite on the side, lots of broccoli! We nibbled, chatted, giggled and soaked up the atmosphere. To say it was their first proper night of service, the staff were incredible. We had a laugh with them, learnt about the menu and generally just took in the amazing atmosphere. Mark my words, this is the place to visit when you're in Manchester. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic and the venue is stunning. It's worth going in for a drink just to see the venue but once you smell the food, you wont be able to turn it down. I'll definitely be back.

breakfast in bed
The following morning, it was time for breakfast. King Street Townhouse blew me away, they bring your breakfast to your room for a tiny fee and I have never had a hotel do this before, usually it's a completely separate expensive menu. It meant we could relax in our comfy bed (one of the comfiest beds, ever).

spring make up
I prepped myself for the day ahead with some new favourite Spring beauty products. By Terry Day Cream, Jo Malone Bloomsbury perfume, Elizabeth Arden Hydrating Mist, Clarins Blush, Burberry Blush and Burberry lipstick. Then, we popped our dressing gowns on and headed down to the spa.

king street townhouse pool spaKing Street Townhouse has won the Best Pool category in this year’s Simply The Guest Awards, you can find the hotel here on laterooms and read about the awards here!

I'm very tempted to visit the other hotels now which ranked as finalists in the best pool category, they include Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, Blythswood Square in Glasgow, St Mellion International Resort in Saltash, Milestone Hotel in London, The Malvern Spa Hotel in Malven, St Brides Spa Hotel in Saundersfood, Hyatt Regency in Birmingham, Christchurch Harbour hotel in Christchurch and Ramada Resort Cwrt in Usk. The above are in no particular order but now they're all on my list of places to visit. I always say the UK is totally underrated for it's epic hotels so it's definitely given me a list of places to book this year.

manchester spa

The spa in the hotel is one of the most gorgeous little spas I've come across, perfectly teeny, but it opens out to the whole of Manchester. I never wanted to leave the pool.

I can see why this won the UK's Best Pool, I just wish I had longer to stay in it. I'm hoping to book my family in for a stay here later this year as we genuinely had such an amazing time. I cannot recommend this hotel enough! The UK is definitely an underrated place for a staycation! As much as I love places like Barcelona, the UK is still worth a visit!
