A Homeware Haul!

tropical chair
Hello hello! If you read my blog post back in July about my house move, (or have watched any of my vlogs!) you'll know that the house hunt is well and truly underway and in true me style, I've bought lots of stuff for my house, even though I don't yet own a house. Logical yep? Typical me. I went on a bit of a treasure hunt earlier this month and couldn't be more excited to show you some of the things I picked up. Hands up if you love interior shopping as much as I do?! I'm a self-obsessed homeware addict. Come shop with me!
I've always adored interior, so much so that I dreamt of being an interior designer from a very young age. I'll never forget the day my teacher at school told me I wouldn't be able to do it (still to this day have no idea why he said that!) I headed to the library for a 'careers meeting' and was totally shot down. The good news? With Pinterest (I'm an addict) and shops like Homesense, we can all be interior designers for our own homes/spaces nowadays. I'd be lying if I said wedding planner and interior designer weren't up there as two of my top dream jobs ever since well, forever haha and I'd definitely be lying if I said I haven't planned 18 weddings and 40 different houses on my Pinterest.  As a child, I'd always move things around in my room, in the hopes that it looked different and I'd designed a new space. I'd fill my room with new cushions, posters, photos and anything I could afford with my pocket money to try and make a difference to the space. I've always been very creative and I guess that was my own little way of playing around with interiors.

Whether it's this year or next year when I eventually find my new house, it's definitely going to be a big project kitting it out just the way I like it. It doesn't matter if you're taking on a big project or just a little space, places like Homesense make it a lot more fun and a lot cheaper. After looking around 20 houses (and not falling in love with any of them), I grabbed Matt and took him for his first ever Homesense experience (even he got excited!) who needs a house when you can just collect homeware anyway? Haha. I didn't realise but Homesense is part of the TK MAXX family but obviously dedicated to home! The reason it differs to most other homeware stores is because they change stock regularly and each store differs, so it really is like a treasure hunt each time you go into a new Homesense store, or, even any day of the week.

I picked up this incredible chair. I couldn't decide whether to buy four of these and have them as dining room chairs or, just one as a wardrobe room/office staple piece. I went for the latter. I would have loved all four but as I don't yet know what kind of space I'm going to have, it made sense to just stick to the one. Even sat in the corner of my room, it looks incredible. I'm truly in love. I love the print of it and couldn't believe my eyes when I found it.

I couldn't resist these copper and marble lamps. I picked two of them up so they can match throughout the house (wish I got a few more now). I'm sticking to a copper and marble theme in my new home (of course) and couldn't believe how beautiful these are, plus they're such good quality and really heavy. I was so impressed with the quality of everything I picked up. You've never seen someone throw something into their basket so quickly. I was so excited to find these, literally like a magpie.

For our kitchen, I got baby pink accessories to match our baby blue toaster and kettle. I absolutely adore pastels and feel like they'll brighten up a neutral kitchen but also, make me want to bake! I'm obsessed with baking and can't wait to play around with more recipes as soon as I get my new house. We were so lucky to find so many incredible matching pieces, you've got to hunt but it's well worth it when you find the matching sets!

I couldn't resist getting these glasses for our guests. I want our home to be a welcoming place and I dream of throwing dinner parties regularly. I think Homesense is actually good for gifts too as many of these things would make incredible presents.

We couldn't resist getting copper cutlery, why on earth not? I already have copper pans (Homesense stocked a lot of them!) and thought I may as well get the utensils to go with them. These were incredibly affordable.

Top tips for shopping at Homesense:

I have a few tips for shopping at Homesense because it can be a little overwhelming!

- See it as a treasure hunt! - You really don't know what you're going to find, one day there may be nothing to your fancy (doubt it) and the next day, that gorgeous sofa you've been dreaming of will be there! It really depends on when your nearest store gets stock so it's worth going on different days, times and to different locations.

- Hunt - We looked around all the aisles and on one aisle found something that matched another thing on a later aisle, you do have to hunt, particularly if you're wanting matching things.

- Pace - We first ran around the store and only found a few things, it was when we hunted around and took it slowly, going back over the aisles (like two people on a serious mission!) that we found our dream house items!
