I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dreaming of a white Christmas. I don't think I even remember having a white Christmas, ever. I used to live in Canada so we had snow all the time but in the UK, not so much. I'm probably one of the few people who love it when it snows, as cold as it makes me, it also makes me feel all fuzzy, cosy and festive. Today I'm styling up a monochrome outfit, something that totally reminded me of a white Christmas, with it's simple and smart all black base for a sleek yet comfortable look and then a white coat over the top for extra coziness and smartness. Look out for the 'shop' feature on this blog post too for similar items too. I hope you'll enjoy this winter style post. This is in partnership with Topshop.
The coat: I'm a sucker for a long coat that pretty much drowns me, I feel warm but also, I feel smart, whether it's worn with jeans for a killer look or with a dress for more of an office/night out look. I think they're traditionally called 'editors coats' and I totally get why...they're smart and you feel like a total boss in them. At only 5ft2, I'm only small but actually, this oversized premium textured coat still works, particularly with heeled boots. I'm a sucker for white, in both summer and winter and it means you can do the monochrome look too. I feel like the double-breasted buttons give it such a smart finish but then you can wear it open too for more of a casual look. The premium/textured feel makes the coat feel so warm too, perfect for this chilly weather. I'd recommend sizing down in the coat as it is oversized.

The base: I love a high quality, long coat because it means I don't need to worry too much about what's underneath. It's usually covered up! However, with a white coat, I couldn't resist going for a monochrome look. I'm all about monochrome and I love nothing more than wearing all black for a sleek look. If you ever read my blog post, many moons ago about my love for Topshop jeans, you'll know that I adore them. I'm not really a jean lover, but with Topshop, I find them so comfy and they fit so well. In winter, I swear by turtle and rollnecks to keep my neck warm plus I think they look really smart too.

The Boots: Good boots are a winter wardrobe staple, taking me all the way from autumn into the depths of winter and then right back out the other side into spring. I'm a sucker for beautiful boots and I'm usually pretty boring and go for black ones. You can't go wrong really, with a solid pair of black boots (I adore these ones and they're firmly on my Christmas list) they go with every outfit and keep you looking smart but also, WARM. Warmth and comfort are so important. This time, I went for something a little different with these grey babies, you can also get them in black too, if you're not ready to take the plunge although I'm tempted to get them in both colours. At first, they feel pretty tight on the feet but they instantly get comfier once you've done some walking around in them. I need boots that elongate my legs, look good with bare legs and jeans but also, mainly, are comfy. I can vouch for these boots because I've done miles running around London in them and they're still in great condition but also, I didn't get any blisters, in fact, they only got comfier as they molded to my feet more.

The winter hat: Just like that, out of nowhere, I became a hat girl. Who doesn't want to keep their ears and head warm? I always get colds and it's always my head that suffers the most from the cold (and my toes, but that's what fluffy socks are for) even if they do make my head/face shape look bigger than usual, I think they're super cute, cosy and mainly, warm. I'm a sucker for a pom pom hat, particularly this faux fur one so thank you Topshop, for adding a bit of winter fun to an ordinarily smart outfit. Fluffy hats are totally acceptable in 2017 and your head will definitely thank you for it.
