Valentine's day, GALentines day, just-another-day or how about love yourself day? Whatever your stance on Valentine's day, I'm personally a sucker for it (sorry not sorry). I thought I'd put a few Spring items together to create a daytime Valentine's day look in the hope it inspires you. I'm all about day dates, whether it's with the girls for brunch, my Mumma or my boyfriend and I'm also a little obsessed with Spring, so I'm slowly filtering new bits into my wardrobe. I hope you love these pieces as much as I do and maybe they'll give you some outfit inspo this Valentines.
THE STRIPE JUMPER - First item, the striped tee. I think striped tops are so easy to wear but they look so smart too. I find the whole 'smart casual' 'day date' thing quite difficult but I think a striped top is the perfect Parisian, classic look without being too casual or too smart. THE CHECK COAT - Stripes and check should never be seen? I broke the fashion rules and mixed check with stripes for a flirty, day to night friendly look. I adore this coat, the way it nips into the waist in the perfect place. I think the pattern is beautiful and such a different pattern to the houndstooth we're so used to seeing. THE BLUSH COAT - Not a fan of mixing patterns? Play it safe and smart with this ultra cosy and ultra smart blush/beige coat. I'm a sucker for a smart, every day coat and I couldn't resist a lighter colour in the run up to Valentines and Spring. I wore this coat with the striped jumper and some dark jeans (so affordable). THE HEELS - I always ensure I wear boots or heels with jeans because I find it makes even the most casual of outfits, date-day worthy plus it takes you from day to night. I love these grey heels by Faith at Debenhams, online here. I love that they fasten around the ankle and think they really go with the dark jeans.
EYES -
I'm all about having a go-to confident make up look, whether it's day or night and my hero, holy grail make up item I can't be without? Mascara. I feel naked without it and it's definitely my date night weapon. I headed onto the Debenham's beauty page and picked up the new Benefit BadGAL mascara. If I'm honest, I worried it would have been overhyped but if you watched my recent vlog where I tried it or if you saw my Insta story (@emshelx), you'll know this product definitely isn't overhyped, it truly does make my lashes so long. My new date essential, that's for sure, it instantly opens my eyes up. See the photos above for examples of how two-strokes completely transforms my lashes.
