I’m a little bit of a sucker for Valentines Day, okay, a big sucker for Valentines. Whether you’re celebrating with your dog, your bestie or your partner, I love it. I get that it can be lonely, but I try not to take it too seriously, I use it as an excuse for me time. I’d happily celebrate it by myself, spoon feeding Nutella and then go for a date with Jo Malone in the bath. I know it’s a ‘marketing ploy’ but whatever, I think it can be light-hearted and fun and I fall for all of it, from Valentines chocolates, to Valentines beauty products to Valentines pyjamas (I have even bought Valentines day toast toppers before, yup, I am a marketers dream, I buy myself roses because let's face it, no-one else is gonna buy me them). I use the Valentines period as a chance to love yourself and pamper, I think this is the perfect excuse for me to write about some of my current favourite pamper tips. This doesn't mean just for today either, but I try and do weekly pamper sessions (every Sunday). There are so many little ways you can treat yourself.
Using Givenchy lip balm / hair by SassoonEmbrace Your Skincare Routine - Skincare is one of my favourite things, ever and did you know, you can easily have a mini facial at home. If you read my top winter skincare products you'll know that I absolutely adore skincare and love trialling new things, skincare is my happy topic. Give me all the serums and all the moisturisers. If I'm stressed, I simply tie my hair up and take my make up off, pop a face mask on with a serum afterwards and I honestly feel instantly relieved. I love taking the time to really enjoy using my skincare. Use your favourite skincare products (or try some new ones) and take time with your skincare, we so often rush it, as if it's a chore but when I was recently in Paris with Givenchy Beauty I took a bit of extra time to enjoy my skincare before bed and I went to bed feeling like a princess. If you're in the market for new skincare, Givenchy L'Intemporel Blossom Anti-Fatigue Serum is a current favourite of mine, I don't know how I've gone so long without it. It's a beautifying radiance serum and is perfect for someone who's always on the go. My skin often feels lacklustre and using this is like a Valentine's present to myself. Then there's the Radiance Reviver Cream which again, is anti-fatigue, great for tired and dull skin (particularly as the temperature is changing all the time). This cream feels rich but soft and when put on the face it feels so luxurious and utterly divine. I'm a sucker for looking after my lips too, Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto for a fresh, no-make-up make up look. This is a moisturiser, plumper and colour enhancer in one. Basically, a dream in a beautiful tube. So, the next time you go to rush your skincare, try enjoy using your products, take a little bit of time to appreciate it and even rub the serum in like a mini facial (or, do it in a steamy bath), you'll thank me for it.
TREAT YOUR HAIR - We all know just how much I love hair care. I'm a strong believer in treating your hair. When my hair is happy, I'm happy. There are quick and easy things you can do at home: I try and sleep in hair masks (you can even make them in your kitchen with some eggs and honey or coconut oil) or if I'm short for time, leave a conditioner on for a little longer and massage my own head in the shower (I LOVE A HEAD MASSAGE). As much as I love treating my hair and see that as a pamper treat, nothing makes me feel more pampered than a blow dry. I’m a sucker for a blow dry and on special occasions (basically, every day) I head to either Sassoon if I’m in Leeds, Show if I’m in Nottinghill or DryBy if I’m in central London for my blow dries, however, I am getting better at doing them at home alone. I use my ghd wand for soft, ‘romantic’ curls (I do love curls, I find them romantic, weird, I know) and then I recently used the Dyson hair dryer. I have been so excited to try this and if I’m honest, I think it’s gonna revolutionise my life. It makes drying hair faster (hello more time in the bath and less time with an aching arm) but also, it's lighter and kinder to the hair. Pamper away. P.S: IGK launched recently at Space NK and their Cleansing Walnut Hair Scrub and if you get the time, use this at home, it feels like a scalp massage/cleanse all in one and I feel incredible after using it. My hair feels SO clean and pampered. UNDERWEAR/PYJAMAS - What is it about new, beautiful underwear or gorgeous pyjamas that makes me feel so heavenly and pampered? Even more so than a new LBD. I always recommend getting cosy in beautiful pyjamas post-bath, it makes me instantly feel cosy and happy. Don't forget fluffy socks. A pamper night must have.
SCENT - I was once told years ago to choose a scent and make it 'your scent'. I work in the beauty industry so let's face it, I'm never going to choose just one scent. I adore beautiful, new fragrances and actually see new seasons as a chance to change my scent. I also see new destinations as a chance to change my scent too, it then means when I put that scent on, it evokes memories from that very trip. I see a perfume like underwear, it's a personal choice and it makes you feel great on the inside. No-one else even needs to know, but it's personal and it's yours. I feel naked without a scent on. My Spring perfume of choice? Givenchy Live Irresistible Blossom Crush. The ultimate Spring scent. I have my scent favourites (Jo Malone Tuberose Angelica, Armani Si + Flowerbomb of course) but it feels special to mix them up. Givenchy’s new Irresistible Perfume is what it says on the bottle, simply Irresistible. It is incredibly sweet when it first comes out but then it softens and to me is the Spring or perfect date day scent. It’s feminine, soft and playful plus, the bottle is so beautiful and elegant.
BATHE - I say it so often but for me, the easiest way to de-stress, unwind and treat myself is to have a bath. I'll light my favourite candle (Jo Malone, Diptyque, Neom, Jo Loves to name a few) and then drench my bath with Molton Brown bathing oil until my skin is like silk. The best bit? You can pop your face mask on and your hair mask whilst you're bathing. There's something about candles, steam and beautiful aromas that make me feel so pampered and happy. It's so important to take time for yourself. I'm in love with Diptyque Eau Rose, it's the most divine soap, ever, made with almond oil so you can imagine how soft it is. If you need a little bit of a pick me up then you must smell this.
GET READY - If your idea of a pamper night is getting dolled up and ready then you go for it. Whilst I love bathing, prepping and relaxing, there's nothing better than feeling kick ass and ready for a date night or a night out. I’ve always been a sucker for Nars but I love them even more now I’ve seen their new Narcassist palette. I’m a sucker for a romantic smokey eye and this palette just screams date night (or girls night). I absolutely adore the red shades and the pinks. The pigmentation is incredible too. You can go for a soft look or more of a deep date night look so this palette really does everything. This is limited edition too and I'm all about the glittery metallic colours. A bold lip makes me feel sexy too (because hey, pampering and getting dolled up well, I do it to make myself feel great, not for anyone else!) Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick shades are my favourites too as I find they're so flattering, particularly the nudes because they only enhance my natural lip colour or you can go for a deep red for a date night look.
So there we have it, a few ways I pamper myself and make myself feel great (I also buy myself flowers because hey, why not). Leave a comment and let me know what makes you feel great, is it a face mask, a hair mask or a new fragrance?
