8 WAYS I MOTIVATE MYSELF TO WORKOUT

Today another fitness post, hooray. I have written quite a few fitness motivation blog posts but today, as the weather gets a little gloomier outside, I want to give you an update on how I've been keeping myself motivated and inspired to work out. I always say the hardest part is actually getting to the gym, so see this blog post as my guide to staying on track and motivated with your workouts, these little tips should help you to move more and feel motivated. This is in collaboration with Reebok.

Start a diary - This may sound a little over the top but at the start of the year I got a yearly calendar where I can see the whole year on two pages and I then tick the days I work out. It's really inspired me to keep on track because it means I can count how many times a week I've been to the gym. This then means I don't beat myself up for having a week off as I can clearly see the days I've worked out. I aim to work out 3x minimum per week and 5x on an exceptional week but I wouldn't ever work out more than 5x as rest is so important. I guess having a calendar just helps me to stay motivated and on track. It allows me to be kinder to my body and plan my rest days too!

Good kit - It sounds cliche but I really do work out better with good gym kit and also feel more motivated to workout. Yep, you don't need a good gym kit to workout (do it naked for all I care as long as you're moving) but, just like going back to school, a new uniform and pencil case got me in the mood to work hard, a gym kit does the same to me. On these photos, I'm wearing Reebok, I've always been a fan of their leggings as I find they are perfect for squatting in and such good quality. I can take their gym kit to a high impact class and they last for years. I still have Reebok leggings from a shoot I did over a year ago and the quality is still the same, as good as new.

Not to mention the Reebok PureMove sports bra, it’s definitely a one of a kind. It blew my mind when I found out this bra has motion sense technology. The fabric of this bra is treated with groundbreaking technology that responds to motion more accurately than any other technology of its kind. I’m used to sports bras feeling tight, uncomfortable and quite thick on my body but this is so lightweight. It's designed specifically to feel like second-skin by offering a minimalistic construction and barely-there feel but it holds me perfectly, I was quite shocked actually as picking it up I didn’t expect it would but it’s perfect. Another reason to love this? The PureMove comes in XS, XS/S, S, S/M, M, M/L, L, L/XL, XL and XL/2XL allowing women to find a sports bra that actually fits them comfortably, finally! Have you ever tried to go to the gym without a good sports bra? It’s not good. This is SO incredibly comfortable but efficient too, basically this is the sports bra I’ve been wearing the most recently. Shop the PureMove bra.

Find a friend to workout with - I really do find that having someone to work out with helps, I usually go to the gym with my boyfriend but we do separate workouts, it just means we both push each other if one can't be bothered. I also have friends and we text when we are working out, again, it just pushes each other to workout. I do think working out is quite mental too, the hardest bit really is getting yourself there.

Find workouts that work for you - So many people message me and say they don't work out because they hate the gym and I think it's so important to figure out what works for you. Some people may have had a bad experience in one spin class but you could try another teacher on a different day for example. Working out doesn't have to just be going to the gym, it can be doing classes or going on a walk. It's all about movement. I use the health app on my iphone to track my steps when I can't get to the gym. You can read my full gym routine here and you can watch my gym routine here too.
Remember the hardest bit is getting there - I never regret a workout but the hardest bit is getting there. Never forget those post-workout exercise endorphins and use them to help you get to the gym when you can't be bothered!
Find a schedule - I do think finding your routine is a good way of remaining motivated. I always say how important it is to make working out part of your life rather than feeling like a chore. Working out is a lifestyle choice, some people may do it to lose weight, some people may do it to for their mind, whatever your reason, make it part of your routine. So, try and find a gym or classes that work with your schedule, is it easier to go to a gym next to your work? To go to a gym down the road from your house? Try and ensure your schedule works for you.

Set a goal - I know people hate the whole 'beach bodies are made in summer' so let me nip this in the bud right here, right now, you have a body? Good, that means you have a beach body. However, I do completely understand that goal setting is something that keeps you on track and keeps you motivated. So yes, guilty, I will use a holiday as my inspiration to get my butt in the gym or I will think about that girl when I have the last 10 seconds on the treadmill. It is about finding what kind of goals motivate you.

Time - So many people expect results overnight but nothing happens overnight. I once read somewhere that it takes 12 weeks to see a proper difference so get your diary out, keep writing and stick to it. Don't get disheartened, progress photos can help too, you may think nothing has changed but it probably has! Don't be hard on yourself.

So there we have it guys, my top tips to motivate myself to workout. Do comment and leave any of yours below!
