It seems lockdown has got everyone even more involved in their self-care and beauty regimes and I'm here for it. I've always been utterly obsessed with skincare, yes I am incredibly loyal to certain brands but I really do think it's all about mixing it up, depending on your skins needs that day or week. There are so many factors that can change how the skin looks or feels: hormones, diet, sleep, stress, weather, aircon! So it really depends on the week to be honest. I thought I'd write a blog post about 5 of the best skin serums right now, these are 5 I am using at the moment and I hope you find this useful. I am so happy with my skin right now! Also as we are in a heatwave, don't miss: 11 of the best SPFs for your face.
The great thing about skincare is you can mix it up, for me personally I will apply different targeted serums on different skin needs (eg, a serum on my blemish, a discolouration serum on my red areas then an all over serum for hydrating, followed by a moisturiser) you can layer it depending on your needs. Below are my favourites right now!
SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF - Yep, I can't pronounce it either but I can tell you it's a miracle serum and so many people have said this has totally changed their skin. It kind of goes on like a gel and feels so smooth as it goes into the face. It is not at all oily. I personally use a few pumps of this on a morning (I use the gel version) and then layer with anything else my skin may need that day. In science terms, it helps prevent free radical damage, diminishes the appearance of discolouration and improves skin tone and texture. It has 2% phloretin and 10% pure vitamin c. It's topical to provide advanced protection against environmental damage. In my words? It makes my skin feel bright, it's got vitamin C in it which is basically a hero brightening ingredient and it really does improve the skin tone, leading to a brighter complexion and my skin feels smooth too. It refines the skins texture too and apparently complements sunscreen well for enhanced protection, which we all need! Yes it's expensive but it's because it's got SUCh good ingredients in it and there are tests to back this up. Also, they test SkinCeuticals products in final packaging and have proven stable ingredients like their vitamin C remain effective for 36 months or 6 months after opening!
Good for: bright, smooth textured skin / How I use: a few plops on a morning.
If you are hunting for vitamin C products but looking for something a little less expensive, Vitamin C Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate is also a good option.
Good for: Calming, natural product before bed to fake 8 hour sleep, you wake up and your skin looks radiant! It's a dream / How I use: A few drops on an evening.

SkinCeuticals H.A Powerful Corrective Intensifier - I used a bottle of this so quickly and I was fully influenced by Instagram to first get my hands on this product. So many girls swear by it and there's a reason for that. I personally find you can use this morning AND night, layer it up with any other product. It is so powerful for hydrating the skin. People swear by it for hydrating the skin and when I ran out I was literally gutted! It's designed to amplify the skins hyaluronic acid levels and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This, coupled with vitamin C and you are onto a brightening skincare winner.
