Advertorial – In celebration of their new Mighty Human Vegan Protein Powder, Mighty Pea have challenged me to pledge how I’m going to be ‘Less Might, More Mighty’ and look at how the nation can make small changes in their lives to make a positive impact. No matter how big or small, everyone has ‘Mighty’ in them and I love the idea behind this campaign.
Here are some small changes I have made that have been great for my health, fitness and mind too:
> Walk everywhere - One of the positives of the last year? I've taken so many less cabs... this means more money in my pocket, it's better for the environment but also, it's better for my health, hitting those 10,000 daily steps got so easy and walking doesn't feel like a chore either.
> Find workouts that I can stick to / enjoy - I don't think there's any point in forcing yourself to do workouts you don't enjoy, try a few different things and find something you will look forward to and jump out of bed for. It's about taking the chore out of exercise, make something that's difficult, easier for yourself... granted you might not enjoy the feel during but I promise you'll enjoy it after! I LOVE boxing workouts, Blaze at David Lloyd is my absolute go to, it's the perfect tough intensity and I get the best endorphins ever plus it's such a different mix of moves with epic music, it just gets me so hyped up. My Mum on the other hand prefers dancing, it's about finding what works for you.
> Pre-plan: Write up a to do list the night before so you can set out in your head what you are doing the next day. I usually plan my to do list hour by hour, so I basically have to abide by it and hold myself accountable, usually it's a morning workout followed by a morning walk to do some errands and of course, making my overnight oats the night before. P.S, you need to try Mighty Pea Unsweetened m.lks in your overnight oats, so delicious. I find this pre planning and prepping helps to keep me on track!
> Tracking my protein intake - Tracking can be really useful if done in the right way, I don’t eat enough protein for my diet so consciously track now to ensure I am hitting those goals and I have actually found that since tracking, I am able to eat way more food. Protein isn’t just for bulking, it helps with muscle recovery too and it's such an important part of a balanced diet. It's important to find the right protein for you too, I love Mighty Human as it contains so much good stuff, including a unique blend of pea, hemp, rice and flaxseed and their specially selected green powders including Spirulina, Matcha and Chlorella create a complete, great tasting vegan nutritional supplement. It’s full of key vitamins and minerals, all with 111 calories per 30g serving. You can get Mighty Human in 3 flavours; Berry, Chocolate and Salted Caramel and available from Mightypea.co.uk. My personal fave is chocolate. I LOVE that it's mighty for you and the planet too. The benefits to this protein are like no others I've used to be honest, blending so many different things in one. Perfect if you're looking to make smoothies, protein oats, overnight oats or even my protein pancakes. It's such a good way to get lots of goodness into your balanced diet.
> Making fun recipes to get my protein in - It's no secret I absolutely love my healthier recipes, I launched a whole e-book about them! Whether it's pancakes, banana bread, brownies, oats or cookies, there are so many ways to throw in some supergreens powder or protein powder. Protein doesn’t just have to be taken with plain water, like I say, I make my morning juices / smoothies / protein oats with Mighty Human - some extra goodness to start my day!
> Find yummy health foods - It's totally okay if you don’t like beetroot, or rye bread - find something else! Luckily there are so many alternatives out there now for everyone, I tend to make healthy twists of my favourite things! I don't personally like the taste of Spirulina and Chlorella but I know they're good for me which is why it's so easy to pop a spoonful in my morning smoothie from Mighty Human.
> Reclaiming my kitchen - I'm currently getting through an exciting home renovation and now the builders are almost done, I am loving reclaiming my kitchen and baking / cooking away, home cooked food makes me feel good. Yes, I love eating out and ordering in, it's one of my biggest hobbies / favourite things to do but equally, it feels good to be in charge in the kitchen again, whipping up home cooked deliciousness and knowing exactly what is going into my food!
Lots of love, Em x
