I'm so excited to keep bringing you reviews of my favourite, holy grail beauty products - you know, the ones I am constantly doing swipe ups to when they're on sale... this is for the people who would like a further insight into those products I am forever raving about! I decided a while ago that I wanted to write reviews of the best holy grail beauty products and you may have already clocked a few: La Roche Posay Invisible Spray Suncream, Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation Review, Elemis Pro-Collagen cleansing balm review, Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation - basically, my take on the products I have used and adored for years and full blown reviews so rather than just swiping up to buy, you can decide if it's up your street or not. These are all products I adore and I feel like they deserve a permanent space on the blog. A product I'm sure you've seen me rave about, A LOT is Kiehl's Ultra Cream, I first discovered this when I lived in Canada, it was SO cold and my brother actually recommended this from his ski trips too. Perfect for skin in the toughest of temperatures but somehow, something so strong and powerful, feels so lightweight on the skin. Read more for a review of Kiehl's number 1 best seller globally, the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream moisturiser.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream moisturiser is a moisturiser but not just any old face cream, it launched in 2006 and since then has become a number 1 global best seller, selling 10 jars globally per minute. You could say this is a cult product. The Ultra Facial Cream was inspired by adventures (cute right?) and because of this, has been hailed the 'ultra hydrator' for skin, whether you're up Mount Everest (yeh, seriously) or on the beach. This is going to work for you. It's universal.
So what makes The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream moisturiser. so special? - It provides up to 24 hour hydration but in a lightweight and non-greasy texture and I can vouch for this - I hate anything greasy. This makes it perfect for every day use. It's designed to hydrate the skin for continuous comfort and moisture balanced skin. It's a product I dip in and out of but always go back to, I always make sure I have a tub of it hanging around. I used to think it was just for cold temperatures but it really does work in all temperatures, after all, it's so lightweight it even works in Summer. It's one of those products that I know isn't going to break me out, isn't going to annoy me by being too greasy or heavy and I know it just works for my skin. It's basically what knee high boots are to my Autumn wardrobe: a forever staple / wardrobe essential, but, for my skin.
It's a very good one to take on flights where your skin is longing for some hydration, or, ski trips because it's proven to rebalance hydration and fight against moisture loss even in everyday extreme and artificial humidities that can dehydrate your skin - look at the list below:
• Extreme Cold: -4°C + Wind Chill (6km/h) - I vouch for this in Canada and on ski trips!
• Room Temperature: 21°C + Balanced Relative ± Humidity (45%)
• Artificial Central Heating/ Air Conditioning: 22°C + Low Relative ± Humidity (20%) • Extreme Dry Heat: 37.7°C + Low Relative ± Humidity (20%) - this is important, my skin used to get so bad when I worked at All Saints with the air con!
Kiehl's say they reformulated their Ultra Facial cream because since the original launched over 13 years ago, customer preferences around certain ingredients have changed. Though extensive research spanning decades has confirmed that the preservatives in Kiehl’s portfolio are safe at the concentrations used, Kiehl’s chemists are aware of the growing concern around parabens and other ingredients that could be considered sensitizing. Based on the growing demand for products that do not include parabens, in the mid-2000s, Kiehl’s made the choice to develop all new formulas without parabens.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream is made with:
- Glacial Glycoprotein—a protein derived from sea glaciers to protect and deeply hydrate, while preventing water loss from the skin.
- Olive-Derived Squalane—a highly refined moisturizing oil that strengthens and restores skin’s moisture barrier
To conclude, the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream moisturiser is definitely worth the money, it works in all seasons, it's lightweight, non-greasy and seems to work for all skin types which is just a dream. It's a product I keep coming back to, over and over again - whatever the weather or my skin, I trust in it so much.
Lots of love, Em x
