Below are a few ideas of gifts I am sure most mums will love. It goes without saying that of course, Mother's Day is about love and time but equally, I am a sucker for any occasion and gifting is my love language so I do love any excuse to spoil the people I love with both love and gifts. In this Mothers Day gift guide I’ve included something for all budgets and from a range of brands and retailers small, medium and large. I hope my Mother's Day gift guide gives you some inspiration for Mother's Day gifts.

For something a bit different, I have 2 favourite small businesses owned by lovely ladies as follows: Kiwi Bottles: I absolutely love this small brand which is owed by a girl who decorates a bottle of your choice with a design of your choice and they are so lovely and personal. It's a literal work of art, on a bottle of dreams. You could also make this part of a wider gift by cooking your mum an extra special meal and sharing a glass with her. It's such a forever, special gift as you can keep the bottle afterwards.
Embroidered Linen: This lady makes very beautiful personalised linen napkins and bows. I recently got some beautiful table napkins and bows embroidered with individual names for my birthday party. Her business is called From A Far and she makes beautiful, high quality items that will make a lovely and different present.
Experiences: My Mum absolutely loves going to the theatre with a passion and this type of present means that you can spend valuable time together too. It's a nice ioweyou {Etsy do cute vouchers for this kinda stuff} voucher but also it's something you can get dressed up for and really enjoy, making memories that last a lifetime. I often buy my Mum a voucher to stay somewhere lovely, whether it's in The Cotswolds, Yorkshire or London - a nice spa trip, afternoon tea or just some 'her time'. You could do something like buy her the gift of time too: book her a cleaner, a gardener or a service? We use Fantastic Services for cleaning and honestly it would be the dreamiest gift if someone bought me a house keeper for a few weeks and I know my Mum would love that too.
Hair and Nail vouchers: Who doesn’t love being pampered by professionals? Mums are no exception and I know my mum relishes her time at the hair salon with a follow up nail treatment. Equally she also loves a luxury hair treatment to use at home but it’s something she wouldn’t necessarily spend her money on so I often treat her to Kerastase or Aveda products. Mum loves a blow dry and sees it as a real treat to use when she is going somewhere special so I often buy her vouchers from a local hair salon. She also adores Sable nails in Leeds so I often buy her vouchers to go and see the lovely Laura there. If she was in London I'd be buying her a Townhouse nail voucher for a combined mani and pedi at the same time, the ultimate pampering treat!
Food, drink and flowers: Homemade sweet treats are always a winner I have found but if this is not for you, there are so many small businesses who now ship the most delicious gooey and luxurious brownies and cookies in pretty boxes across the country. Postal sweet treats are something I use a lot and Blondies Kitchen offer such beautiful choicesthey do the most amazing personalised giant cookies and special Mothers Day gift boxes. I also adore local business Savvy Baker, Sav makes the best cornflake {sell out} brownies in town and she does postal boxes too. She also does personalised brownie slabs which are delicious and I always order as gifts. For a New York style cookie, you can also send Creme Cookies for unbelievably gooey warm up in the oven cookies to make your mouth water - delicious to a fault! Thank me later!!!
Additionally my Mum loves full on chocolate and her favourites are Hotel Chocolat, Lindt and Cadbury. Hotel Chocolat is something I buy on every occasion, the quality of their chocolate is amazing and they do the cutest seasonal designs. I adore luxury chocolate brand Laderach and their Mother's Day Mini Box is amazing this year. Laderach are one of the best for premium Swiss chocolate. Food, flowers and chocolate always go down well with mum and as always, Fortum & Mason are doing some lovely hampers this year, check out this The Mother's Joy Gift Box and also, our well known supermarket stores such as Marks & Spencer are doing some lovely flowers such as the Blush Rose Abundance Bouquet and check out their Mini Patisserie Wicker Hamper which is so cute and jam packed. I will never tire of telling you about the beautiful Bloom & Wild Letter Box Flowers and when my brother and I treated mum to an annual subscription of these she was blown away. Similarly, Selfridges offer some stunning bouquets. If in doubt, go to Waitrose or M&S and wrap their gorgeous and well priced flowers in brown paper for a luxury effect.
The Mother's Joy Gift Box Fortnum & Mason
I adore personalised gifts and John Lewis Personalised Gifts are lovely this year and Waitrose too are doing some sensational flowers.
If you and your mum love to bond over a cocktail or 2 but don't have the time to be making them, I found a fabulous idea for my birthday last year in the form of NIO Cocktails which come all ready measured for you to pour over ice and they are doing special Mother's Day packs with chocolates this year. I've given these to friends and family alike and they all love them.
Time is often at a premium for busy working mums with families. That doesn’t mean though that they want to miss out on eating nutritionally sound meals. I’ve found some truly great deliver to the door healthier eating ideas in this past year:
Good Grain: They are a small female owned business that delivers ready to eat, overnight oats and chia puddings. They are all gluten, dairy and refined sugar free and made from 100% natural ingredients. It’s a simple proposition – they soak jumbo oats and chia seeds overnight in plant based milk, mix them with some delicious items such as medjool dates, raw cacao and nut butters and then deliver them to your door. No shopping, no prep and no cleaning – what could be simpler than that. I can vouch for the delicious flavour. It's my dream to have my fridge stocked with these every single day.
Berry and Brie (London): For amazing grazing platters and yummy brunch boxes, the incredible owner Mako does amazing seasonal gifts and the Mother's Day boxes are exceptional. I love the cheese boxes the best and they are ideal as a surprise at anytime – again, ordering one of these will mean you can spend some valuable time with your mum over some lovely food without all the prep that goes in to it. How about a gorgeous picnic?
Candles: I love luxury candles so much, high quality candles have amazing burning times too. My all time favourite candles include Jo Malone - right now they're doing amazing heart shaped boxes and divine limited edition scents for Spring, The White Company - for more affordable but divine candles and they currently have an amazing sale on, Molton Brown - they do divine gift sets, Diptyque for ultimate luxury {it's my dream to have a huge one} but the choice is absolutely endless and the scent and look of a candle is very personal to the individual, their home and their scent desires.
Last but certainly not least, the Neom Feel Good Vibes 3 Wick Candle is absolutely heavenly. I absolutely love Neom and this candle really steals the show. Neom do such a beautiful range of products, from night sprays to calming bath foam. Their packaging is utterly divine and they are great for creating a spa like environment in the home. I am a mega fan and adore their ethos as one of the top wellbeing brands.
Fragrance always makes a lovely gift, and the Jo Malone Floral Scent Layering Heart Gift Box will undoubtedly be popular this year and I am also loving the Rose Amber Cologne and the quirky bottle it comes in. I feel like fragrance isn't something someone buys for themselves so it's lovely to be bought it by someone. Then of course there are always the reliable staples such as Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir or Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf the most magical floral scent. For something a little more 'evening wear', I love Jo Malone's Tuberose Angelica. Molton Brown's Orange & Bergamot Eau de Parfum and Diptyque's L'Eau de Neroli Eau de Toilette are the ideal scents if you are looking for something light and delicate with citrus notes, mum adores both. A scent I never want to run out of is Armani Si actually one of my Mum's all time favourite scents. You can find good fragrance gift sets if you're looking to get more bang for your buck.
Speaking of candles and fragrance, a failsafe option is a good handwash set. I love Molton Brown Oud handwash set, it is my Mum's absolute favourite and makes such a good gift that will be used daily in the bathroom.
Facial and Body Products: Mum and I are skincare obsessed and we never tire of discovering new creams, gels, make ups etc, it’s like a therapy for us and I absolutely love the idea of treating someone to a pamper. I usually make my Mum a hamper of all her favourites. You can read about our top facial cleansers if you missed that and need some inspo or the best body moisturisers because I feel like a luxury body product makes such an indulgent, luxurious and gorgeous pampering gift. Here are some of my mum’s favourites but I have to say the list is endless:
Mum loves a rich body moisturiser and never goes without as her skin has a tendency to be dry. Her current favourites are Rituals Mehr Body Cream and Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream both luxurious and leave her skin feeling smooth and nourished with a delicious and lingering scent. She also adores the Temple Spa range and in particular the Temple Spa bath soak. She also loves a travel kit so that she can take all her favourites with her where ever she goes and this limited edition L'occitane Cherry Blossom Travel Collection with its travel size cherry blossom range will make a fabulous and affordable present this year. When I say my Mum and I are obsessed with L'Occitane, their Almond Range is also a firm favourite and will make that mundane shower incredibly luxe. Mum and I are both obsessed with cleansing balms as they're great for efficient but lazy removal, Elemis Cleansing Balm and Take The Day Off by Clinique are 2 of her favourites along with Fresh Soy Cleanser which she has been using for years.
For holy grail skincare products for anyone into anti-aging and scientific products, SkinCeuticals Anti-Age Bundle is truly the creme de la creme and I am also a huge Drunk Elephant fan, they have a fantastic range of truly indulgent skincare to offer. For the prettiest cream to exist, I adore the entire Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream range. An absolute winner for Mother's Day is the Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Ceramide Capsules (type in EMSHEL at checkout to qualify for 20% discount) which I know mum will love. She will forever use the Arden Eight Hour Cream (multi-tasking genius product which is epic for lips, sun burn and everything in between!) and if I ever want to treat her to something small yet perfect then Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Sheer Tint Lip Balm is the lip balm she swears by.
Another holy grail is the Midnight Recovery Oil and Creme De Corps from Kiehl's because they make the best gifts and are genuinely two of the best products I've used - I stock my Mum up on Creme De Corps every few months!

Fitness and Health: Throughout her life my Mum’s main form of exercise has been walking and even more so now we have the dog. She walks miles and Thurlos hiking socks are always on her list of staples, I know socks are a boring gift but they're a useful one. She always jokes that if you don’t know what to buy me as a present please get me some hiking socks! More lately she has joined a gym and is an avid class attendee and now also loves leggings, sports bras and tops from Sweaty Betty and she is also a new lover of Adanola Ultimate Leggings – these make excellent gifts.
Sticking with the health theme, a great present that mum actually bought me at Christmas was a vitamin hamper! I was having trouble sleeping at the time and she made me a hamper of all things vitamins {MyVitamins do vitamins for under £5 with promo code EMSHEL} and topped it off with a month's worth of the food supplement Symprove. You can get 50% discount at Symprove using my code EMSHEL50 at symprove.com/emsheldon. If your mum is in to her gut health and likes supplements this is a great idea. Give your Mum a life changing gift of good gut health!
A hug in a mug: Mum loves nothing better than a new special mug to drink her tea out of. It’s just something she has always loved. She gets attached to her mugs for months and sometimes years. I bought her one 4 Mother’s Days ago from Oliver Bonas with Mama on the front of it and she loves it. I can honestly say that I think Oliver Bonas is one of my all time favourite shops to visit for amazing bits and pieces that make different and quirky presents. You could take the mug a step further and grab a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser to go with it or some Knoops chocolate flakes which are divine. You could always do something cute too like stock her up on her favourite tea / coffee, my Mum adores teapigs every day brew so stocking her up on that alongside a new mug is a good gift idea.
You could get your Mama something cosy too like Dupe Ugg slippers or sale Ugg slippers and then a luxury White Company Hooded Hydrocotton Robe. Nothing says I love you more than a cosy treat.
Photos, photo frames and photo books / personalised goodies: One of the presents that have made both my mum and my family happier than anything have been photos and photo books. Sharing memories in this way is such a great gift idea and the books I have purchased previously have been used in so many family gatherings to rekindle lovely memories of times we have spent together. I often just get photos of us over the years and make a gorgeous photo book online, properly bound like an actual book. We also love just buying gorgeous frames and printing special moments inside them.
Books - mum has rekindled her love of reading and I think if she had time she would read more and more, therefore, an Amazon Gift Card is always a good shout!
I hope these Mothers Day Gift ideas have been helpful and remember your mum will never measure her joy in grand gestures or material gifts but in the precious moments she shares with you. May your Mum's day be filled with love, laughter and warmth.
