Hello my fellow skincare enthusiasts, I hope you are well and I hope you enjoyed my earlier reviews of Drunk Elephant products. If you're new here, I'm reviewing so many of my favourite skincare products and so far from Drunk Elephant, in my opinion these are the best products to buy: Drunk Elephant No. 9 Jelly Facial Cleanser and Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask. As promised, I am today talking to you about another one of my favourite Drunk Elephant products: Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream which is literally like a dessert for your face! If you watched my best beauty items of 2023 video on YouTube, I'm sure you'll have spotted this in here. I have LOVED using the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream and just had to do a review of this utterly scrumptious product.

Lala Retro Whipped Cream can be easily paired with other Drunk Elephant products
Like many, as a young woman with never ending fluctuating hormones, my skin can vary so much. It is described as a 'combination' skin and there are always parts of my face that benefit from extra moisture. For the last 6 months I have been using Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream and I'm so glad I tried it. When I use it my skin feels as if it's wrapped up in a cozy, whipped cloud of hydration. Here I'm going to answer the questions you may have about this lovely skincare comfort blanket, the main one being is Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream actually any good? {Spoiler: I've never used a bad Drunk Elephant product!}
What is Drunk Elephant Retro Whipped Cream?
Lala Retro is a facial cream with a whipped texture which makes it super easy to apply. It's designed for tired, dry skin and contains ingredients to help skin stay strong and protected by boosting its natural barrier, defending against the effects of everyday stressors. It's loaded with African oils, omega acids and antioxidant rich fermented green tea to help combat signs of ageing.
How do I use Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Cream?
Applying LaLa Retro whipped cream is easy. After cleansing (and applying serum or oil if used), apply a pump of Lala Retro. Apply evenly to face, neck and chest. I was always taught to massage creams into my skin using upward and outward motions and when done properly this can feel really relaxing. Allow a few minutes for the cream to fully absorb before applying sunscreen and makeup.
It's a rich cream and I find that a little goes a long way so do remember to start with a small amount and adjust based on your own skin's needs.
Is Lala Retro Whipped Cream any good?
I truly believe so! In food terms (as I'm a die hard foodie) the No. 9 Jelly Cleanser is the appetiser and the Lala Retro Cream is the main course! When I feel it hydrating my skin I just know it's packed with good for your skin ingredients and it leaves me feeling pampered and refreshed. I personally find that my skin always needs hydration and the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream is a perfect day and night moisturiser. It doesn't feel too heavy, sticky or rich on my face and doesn't make me break out. It is the perfect calming yet hydrating cream. I personally used this in Winter but it feels light weight so would be fine to use in Summer too.
Does it pair well with other products?
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro pairs perfectly with other Drunk Elephant products such as Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum or Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil or equally it can be used as a stand-alone product. I often use the intensive hydration serum first, let that sink in and then apply the Retro Whipped cream as a final step before bed, all the way down to my neck.

How much is Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream?
The price is around £56 for 50ml with refills available at £49.00.
Is Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream worth the money?
I think so! I always think of a good quality face cream as an investment in happy and hydrated skin. Without it my skin would be terribly dry. A little goes a long way and once applied it provides my skin with enough hydration to see me through until night time. The Drunk Elephant moisturisers are really smart as they come out with a simple pump action so you're never going to loose any product or use too much.
Is Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream good for sensitive skin?
This cream is formulated with a skin friendly PH level of 5.2 and therefore will not disrupt the skin's acid mantle (this is a thin protective layer on the skin's surface which contains natural oils and acids to defend against bacteria and pollutants). I definitely found I had less break outs when using this moisturiser. However, sensitive skin is very personal to the individual so please do patch test this product first to ensure no reaction.
Is Lala Retro Whipped Cream suitable for all skin types?
Infused with no fewer than six African oils plus a plant ceramide complex (which mimic the natural ceramides found in the skin thereby contributing to its protective barrier), this cream is more suited to tired and dry skin types. My skin is a combination of dry and oily and I use it all over my skin.
Lala Retro Whipped Cream is specifically targeted at dry and tired skin
Does Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream use clean ingredients?
You may have seen my previous review about Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask in which I talk about the company's philosophy of creating products that are free from toxins etc and Lala Retro Whipped Cream is no exception to that. Their products are backed by science and their ingredients are clearly listed for transparency which is super important particularly is you have sensitivities to certain ingredients. Additionally, many of their products including Lala Retro are available in refills thereby helping with the environment.
Is Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped cream suitable for children?
Following a huge increase in interest of children in skincare and of Drunk Elephant in particular, the following was said by Drunk Elephant 'not every product in our line should be used by younger fans, 12 and under. In general, we do not recommend using products containing high concentration of active ingredients, which address concerns that aren't present at such an age.' as the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream is for dry and tired skin, I personally wouldn't say this is the top product for children to use but would say the Jelly Facial Cleanser is a great and gentle place to start when thinking about which Drunk Elephant products to buy your children.
So there is my review of the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Creamwhich I personally think is great. It quickly became one of my favourite facial moisturisers, as someone with dry and tired skin I loved applying it every evening before bed and it didn't make me break out. I felt like my skin was smoother and balanced. With all the daily stressors our skin faces, it deserves and needs protecting and Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream is luxurious, effective, smooth and magical for skin and I'm so glad I found it.
