Having already been blown away by the Dyson Airwrap which, just like the ghd Duet Blowdry both dries and styles my hair at the same time, I was excited to try the new Dyson Airstrait which is similar but is specific to hair straightening.  There are times when I need/want to straighten my hair and only straighteners will do the job properly but I don't like to have to both dry and straighten separately so these really are the answer to my prayers.  Like all of the new gadgets, they do not come cheaply so today I'm going to answer any questions you may have before making this purchase. 

What Is the Dyson Airstrait?

The Dyson Airstrait is a 2-in-1 device that both dries and straightens hair simultaneously. Unlike traditional straighteners, it uses a high-velocity airflow to straighten hair at the same time as drying it, which means YAY, say goodbye to separate tools when you want your hair straight!

How Does the Dyson Airstrait Work?

The Airstrait uses Dyson's patented Air Multiplier technology to generate a precise, controlled airflow. This airflow dries the hair while aligning it in a straight, smooth finish. The Airstrait also features intelligent heat control, ensuring the airflow doesn't exceed the temperature needed to dry and straighten your hair, thereby protecting it from heat damage.  When I have used these I can feel the air doing its stuff and the finish is very slick. 

What Are the Benefits of Using the Dyson Airstrait?

1. Time-Saving: The Airstrait allows you to dry and straighten your hair simultaneously, cutting your styling time in half - something I have been truly praying for.
2. Heat Protection: The device maintains a lower heat level than traditional straighteners, reducing the risk of heat damage - a huge advantage for my hair which has a tendency to be dry.

Is the Dyson Airstrait easy to use?

I was initially dubious because I had previously used the Dyson Corrale, a cordless straightener which delivered great results but felt a bit cumbersome and heavy to hold.  That is NOT the case with the Airstrait let me assure you.  It is super light weight and so easy to use.  

Additionally it's super intuitive - I didn't really need the instructions to use it.  With 5 easy to use buttons: Heat mode, fan speed, the cold, the  wet and dry mode and the on and off button.   I allowed my hair to air dry for a little first - I wouldn't use it on fully wet hair although I'm sure you can.  I then sectioned it as normal, selected the wet mode (which has 3 heat choices), slid the Airstrait through each section and voila, sleek, straight results.  I set each area by using the cold setting and gosh when I say my hair was straight I mean it.  The best bit is, this truly stays straight for a long time too. 

Please also note that while I had time to allow my hair to air dry a little, if you don't and you want to give it a quick rough dry to get you going, you simply use the Airstrait by pushing the 2 plates together and locking them with the button on the side, switch on wet mode and hold the Airstrait above your head and it will provide a hair dryer for you to rough dry!  How cool is that?

Another great feature is that every time you put it down it goes in to sleep and then automatically starts up again when you pick it up. 

Does the Airstrait provide volume to your hair?

No, the Airstrait is designed specifically for those of us who want straight hair.  It doesn't provide volume which is where it differs from the GHD Duet Blowdry or the Dyson Airwrap.

Can the Dyson Airstrait be used on dry hair?

Yes, this is a great feature because if for example you get a kink after drying you can just choose one the the 3 settings to iron the kink out while you hair is dry.

How Much Does the Dyson Airstrait Cost?

The Dyson Airstrait is a premium product, with a price tag reflecting its advanced technology and design. Typically, it retails for around £450, making it an investment if you are serious about your haircare routine.

Is the Dyson Airstrait Worth the Investment?

The two main points for me - efficiency of the dual purpose and the fact that it minimises heat damage makes it worth the investment for me personally.  If you value efficiency and hair health and straighten your hair regularly my view is that it is worth the outlay.  Its ability to reduce styling time and minimise heat damage makes it a standout in the market for sure.

Does the Dyson Airstrait Come with a Warranty?

Yes, like other Dyson products, the Airstrait comes with a two-year warranty, covering parts and labour for any manufacturing defects.

Is the Airstraight any Good?

For the time it saves me alone, I think it's great.  It literally cuts my drying and styling time in half so yes, this is one good tool. 

The Dyson Airstrait is what I've been waiting for in the hair straightening field.  It's unrivalled.  It offers a bit of a unique solution if like me you want to both straighten and protect your hair from heat damage. It saves time and gives great results.
